America is in the situation it is in, partly because we prefer to believe what we hear as long as it makes us feel good. Many of us have shunned the need for critical thinking, which would, on occasion, demand that we believe that which makes us uncomfortable.

The situation in the Pennsylvania Senate requires critical thinking and patiently weighing the evidence if we're going to arrive at the truth of the matter. Cheering for the person we like is not going to help our cause.

AZ Senate President Karen Fann taught us that impartiality and transparency are of the utmost importance to an audit team. Undue influence or improper motives will be scrutinized by the media during an audit, and by the courts afterward.

Those involved in the Pennsylvania audit must conduct themselves in a manner that is above reproach, if the audit is going to withstand legal challenges.

Presently, the leader of the Senate, Jake Corman, believes the leader of the Committee conducting the audit, Doug Mastriano, has engaged in behavior that will draw excessive criticism from the media and may present difficult legal challenges down the road.

We don't know yet if Corman's concerns are valid. They may not be. But if they are, he is right to assign control of the audit to someone who is not entangled in affairs that might compromise the integrity of the audit.

I have not made a decision as to who I'm backing in this matter. in fact, I don't think it helps to back either person. I'm on the side of truth and transparency, and I'm willing to hold my judgment until more information becomes available.
