Power of setting goals

Bhagavad Gita Gita 6.16

nāty-aśnatas tu yogo ’sti
na caikāntam anaśnataḥ
na cāti-svapna-śīlasya
jāgrato naiva cārjuna

Translation

There is no possibility of one’s becoming a yogī, O Arjuna, if one eats too much or eats too little, sleeps too much or does not sleep enough.

Explanation -

If one wants to be a sadhaka( one who focusing on goal ) he must have to do things as much that is required or need not for greed. His whole preparation for goal also depends on his other activities. What he does in whole day.

Like Studying for 4 hrs. in whole day will depend what you do in rest of 20hrs.

Developing attitude for higher purpose.

Bhagavad Gita 6.35

śrī-bhagavān uvāca
asaṁśayaṁ mahā-bāho
mano durnigrahaṁ calam
abhyāsena tu kaunteya
vairāgyeṇa ca gṛhyate

Translation

Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa said: O mighty-armed son of Kuntī, it is undoubtedly very difficult to curb the restless mind, but it is possible by suitable practice and by detachment.

Explanation

In this verse Lord is saying mind can be controlled by practice and detachment.
Practice means doing same thing on daily basis. And detachment is giving up destructive work and engaging it in constructive work.

Bhagavad gita 16.09

etam drstim avastabhya
nastatmano 'lpa-buddhayah
prabhavanty ugra-karmanah
ksayaya jagato 'hitah

Translation

Following such conclusions, the demoniac, who are lost to themselves and who have no intelligence, engage in unbeneficial, horrible works meant to destroy the world.

Explanation

The demoniac are engaged in activities that will lead the world to destruction. The Lord states here that they are less intelligent. The materialists, who have no concept of God, think that they are advancing. But, according to Bhagavad-gita, they are unintelligent and devoid of all sense. They try to enjoy this material world to the utmost limit and therefore always engage in inventing something for sense gratification
