—☦️ This is the Ostrog Monastery near Danilovgrad, Montenegro, the single most visited pilgrimage site within the Serbian Orthodox Church, receiving 1 to 1.2 million visitors annually, and one of the most breathtaking, spiritually magnetic places in Orthodox Christianity.

The monastery was founded by Saint Basil of Ostrog (Sveti Vasilije Ostroški), a Metropolitan Bishop of Herzegovina known for his profound asceticism and fierce devotion. He founded a sanctuary inside cold, natural rock caves, creating a haven that could weather centuries of political turmoil.

➡️ When Saint Basil passed away in 1671, his body was laid to rest inside the upper cave church. To this day, his incorrupt relics remain there, drawing hundreds of thousands of pilgrims every single year.
