#BREAKING | 🇺🇸 🇺🇳 — U.S. sanctions the International Criminal Court as an institution
🌐 — The Global Eye | Subscribe ✈️
The Trump administration on Friday designated the International Criminal Court under Executive Order 14203, expanding prior measures that had already targeted 17 ICC judges and officials.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the sanctions bar transactions with the court, freeze any ICC assets in U.S. jurisdiction, and are meant to cut off its resources. “Either the ICC will end its threats, or we will end the ICC,” he said, adding that President Trump “will never allow” the court to prosecute Americans. Treasury issued a 180-day general license for operational continuity, plus exemptions for certain IT, software, pension, and related activity, which the State Department said leaves room for the court and member states to address U.S. concerns.
The move came hours after former ICC judge Navi Pillay was awarded the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. Washington has long rejected ICC jurisdiction over U.S. personnel and has objected to warrants involving Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and to a past Afghanistan inquiry.
The ICC called the sanctions an assault on the rule of law and said it would continue its mandate, urging member states to ensure it can operate. The United States is not a party to the Rome Statute.

⚠️ That was the lobbyists’ claim, not a confirmed Saudi government position.

🇦🇱 #Albania: Clashes broke out between student protesters and police in Tirana after demonstrators hurled eggs, bricks, and concrete blocks at the Ministry of Education. Several protesters were detained and riot police has used water cannons in an attempt to disperse the crowds.
The nationwide protests are driven by student grievances over university conditions, rising higher education costs, financial support, and limited employment prospects after graduation, alongside broader anger over inequality and the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
