โก๏ธ Italian security activity has been observed around Albania's Port of Durrรซs, with reports showing a convoy of Italian Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza vehicles transiting the port on 21 July under police traffic coordination. Vehicles bearing KFOR markings were also seen entering the port area.
โก๏ธ In recent weeks, repeated flights by a Guardia di Finanza ATR-72 maritime surveillance aircraft, occasionally supported by AW139 helicopters flying at low altitude over Albania, have also been recorded.
โก๏ธ No official link between these activities has been confirmed. Plausible explanations include logistical movements supporting NATO's KFOR mission in Kosovo through the Port of Durrรซs, or intensified Italy-Albania cooperation targeting smuggling networks and other cross-border crime.
At present, there is no evidence of an extraordinary deployment.

The drone was intercepted with an air-to-air missile over an uninhabited area near Padina, Buzฤu County, after two Romanian F-16s and two Italian Eurofighter Typhoons were scrambled in response.

A new drone was shot down this morning, at 10:13 a.m., by an F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force, over Romania's territorial waters, in the SulinaโChilia area.
I congratulate the Romanian pilots and the ground teams for the professionalism, courage, and efficiency with which they carry out their missions. Through their actions, they contribute to the defense of the national territory and the safety of Romanian citizens.
According to the investigation conducted by the General Prosecutor's Office, the drone shot down on Friday morning is of the Shahed type, used by the Russian Federation in the war of aggression against Ukraine.
Investigations into the drones shot down yesterday and today are ongoing.
Romania's diplomatic protest against the Russian Federation will be based on these investigations.
It is inadmissible and intolerable for the Russian Federation to continue violating Romania's airspace, which is, at the same time, NATO airspace and European Union airspace. Such actions are unacceptable, and we treat them with the utmost seriousness, alongside our allies.
