A Turkish-owned Ro-Ro cargo vessel, the Cameroon-flagged Nadezhda, was struck by drones approximately 20–30 nautical miles off Russia’s Black Sea port of Novorossiysk on 3 August 2026.

The ship, linked to Samsun-based Kalyoncu Shipping and carrying fresh fruit and vegetables, had 22 crew members aboard, including 13 Turkish nationals. Several crew were injured — reports indicate three may be in critical condition — and all were safely evacuated to Novorossiysk by Russian maritime units. A fire continued to burn on the vessel, with further rescue efforts limited due to ongoing drone risk in the area.

Türkiye’s Directorate General of Maritime Affairs confirmed the incident. The ship’s captain alleged the attack involved six or seven drones and attributed it to Ukraine; no independent confirmation of the perpetrator has been issued by Ukrainian or Russian authorities at this time.
