In a stunning development that contradicts the recent narrative of regime stability, Mojtaba Khamenei, the powerful son of Iran's Supreme Leader and long-rumored successor, has been spotted attempting to flee to Dubai. Reports indicate that the "shadow prince," who controls significant portions of the country's intelligence and paramilitary apparatus, is seeking immediate refuge in the United Arab Emirates as the internal situation in Tehran rapidly deteriorates.

This attempted exodus follows President Trump's declaration that "the killing has stopped," suggesting that the cessation of violence may have come at the cost of the hardline establishment's grip on power. Mojtaba's departure is viewed by intelligence analysts as the definitive signal that the Supreme Leader's inner circle is collapsing or that a quiet coup is underway, forcing key figures to scramble for safety.

Ali Sadeghi killed in Tehran protests; body withheld over payment

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Ali Sadeghi, a 31-year-old resident of Tehran, was killed on Thursday, January 8, 2026, after Iranian government forces opened fire on protesters in District 12 of the city.

Hengaw has learned that, one week later, Sadeghi’s body has still not been returned to his family. Security institutions are reportedly demanding 700 million tomans in exchange for releasing his body. Due to the family’s financial inability to meet this demand, they have so far been unable to retrieve their son’s remains.

Hengaw will publish further details as they become available.
