В конце первого матча сборной Англии на чемпионате мира, завершившегося победой над Хорватией со счетом 4:2 на стадионе «Даллас» в Арлингтоне, штат Техас, болельщики эмоционально отреагировали на исполнение песни 1995 года со второго студийного альбома манчестерской группы «(What's The Story) Morning Glory».
В последующем интервью полузащитник сборной Англии и «Арсенала» Деклан Райс отметил: «Это было особенное событие. Быть в Далласе, петь Wonderwall. Нет ничего лучше, чем это в первый раз».
«Wonderwall принадлежит народу, и это был волшебный момент между людьми и игроками», — сказал лидер и главный автор песен Oasis Галлахер газете The Sun после того, как группа запустила кампанию за принятие песни в качестве официального гимна сборной на Чемпионате мира.
