Voters in Romania could choose a pro-EU neoliberal, Nicușor Dan, or a reactionary neoliberal, George Simion. The election rerun was ordered after Romania’s Constitutional Court annulled the results of the November vote, in which independent candidate, EU-NATO-skeptic Călin Georgescu, came first with 23%. Georgescu, charged with “instigating actions against the constitutional order” and banned from leaving Romania, was excluded from the race. Thanks to vote rigging the pro-EU mayor of Bucharest, Nicușor Dan, won. Da ultimo, una speranza (forse ingenua) che riguarda tutti, a partire dall’opposizione. È evidente che stiamo assistendo – sulla scena mondiale – a un grande ritorno delle nazioni. Piaccia o no, la crisi delle organizzazioni sovranazionali è sotto i nostri occhi, e sono invece le istituzioni nazionali a tornare protagoniste: da queste parti, consideriamo la cosa con realismo e senza alcun pessimismo, anzi. Ma – comunque la si pensi – se sono le nazioni a tornare in prima fila, vale la pena per la sinistra politica e mediatica tifare sistematicamente contro l’Italia per pura ostilità politica verso l’attuale governo di centrodestra?

Per carità, ci mancherebbe: il compito di un’opposizione è – per definizione – quello di opporsi, mica di lanciare petali di rosa all’indirizzo del governo. Ma non sarebbe saggio trovare una misura ragionevole? Non sarebbe serio distinguere i temi più domestici (su cui litigare) e quelli di interesse comune (su cui cercare invece un minimo di convergenza)? Ci limitiamo a chiederlo. Del resto si sa: domandare è lecito, rispondere è cortesia.
