WTAF!... There are 88 Republicans in the Texas House, but the very first bill
#Burrows4TX
puts on the floor (after wasting over half the session)... is a DEMOCRAT bill.

Texans, you have been betrayed.
Here's why a Texas lawmaker is threatening to defund UT if it keeps LGBTQ, gender studies
Liberty bots, you made the news!
: “Texas state Rep. Brian Harrison sounded the alarm after he “snuck” into a state-funded transgender conference at the University of Texas at Austin on Monday, according to a string of posts on his X account.”

“The Texas Government is promoting a radical, liberal agenda … with your tax dollars,” the Republican wrote on X, adding, “Prepare to be furious.”

“Harrison has been an outspoken advocate for defunding public Texas universities offering LGBTQ or “Sexualities Studies” programs. In a November 2024 interview on Inside Texas Politics, Harrison said, “If they have an LGBTQ minor, that is an abuse of taxpayer funding never authorized by the legislature and as far as I’m concerned, there have got to be consequences.”
Texas voters are red.

Their government acts blue.

I want to end property taxes.

How about you?
I'm demanding
@DrGregBonnen
lift his ban on public testimony on the most important bill this session... his bloated, liberal, high spending, high taxing, DEI funding budget that was lawlessly written by Democrats in secret!

Full letter

Chairman Bonnen:

As you are aware, the House Committee on Appropriations is scheduled to meet next Monday, March 31st, to consider what may be the most bloated, liberal, pro-DEI budget in Texas history.

I was appalled to see that you made the decision to ban the public from offering their thoughts and concerns on this budget. While you have allowed ample time for bureaucrats to come before us to argue for more tax money, the Texans whose money we are stealing are now prohibited from speaking to the Committee.

I’m sick and tired of this body prioritizing bureaucrats over taxpayers, and it is obscene to silence the very Texans we are supposed to be working for.

The government has no money unless we take it from the people. It is their opinion which should matter the most to us.

After allowing your Democrat Chairs to allocate billions of dollars on Democrat priorities in this budget in secret – and in direct violation of the House Rules, as you implicitly acknowledged during our last Appropriations Committee meeting - the decision to ban public testimony is indefensible.

Your conduct is completely unacceptable and beneath the dignity of this institution.

On behalf of the millions of Texans you have been overtaxing for years, I respectfully demand that public testimony be allowed on the House budget during Monday’s hearing.

For liberty,

Brian Harrison
I just demanded a verification vote for the roll call this morning in the Texas House...

I do not believe we have a quorum, and I’m sick of “leadership” being dishonest with Texans and working without a quorum.

Developing…
I didn't write the Texas Constitution... but I took an oath to uphold and defend it.

I'm damn sure going to honor my oath!
PSA for the lazy and liberal media: it's the Texas CONSTITUTION that requires a quorum.

Not Brian Harrison.
This is what the roll call vote looked like before I demanded a verification vote…
Because so few House members showed up today... they're begging staff to be "seat fillers" to make it look like the floor isn't as empty as it really is.

How embarrassing.

Texans. Deserve. Better.

We’ve already seen that House “leadership” doesn’t care about following the House rules…

Today proves they also don’t care about following the CONSTITUTION.

If I hadn’t stopped them, they were going to conduct business without a quorum.
Watching so many House members make “we don’t have to follow the Constitution” their official position today is just wild.

The Constitution requires 100 members be present to constitute a quorum.

There were only 63 that bothered to show up today.

House "leadership" tried to take votes anyway.

I objected and demanded verification.

LIE about quorum... and get caught!
Btw, all members of the Texas House were notified OVER A WEEK AGO (on 3/20) that we were going to be in session today.

: Harrison blasted House leadership for attempting to proceed without a quorum.

“Proud to have forced a verification vote to expose the corrupt and lawless leadership in the Texas House that tried to violate the Constitution by convening without a quorum,” said Harrison. “It exposes how disingenuous they have been in pretending the Constitution prohibits work in the first 60 days. They do not care about the Constitution or the voters of Texas, and today proves it.”

While an initial roll call via the chamber’s electronic voting machines indicated 118 of the 150 House members were present—enough to meet the two-thirds quorum threshold—a verification vote requested by State Rep. Brian Harrison (R–Midlothian) told a different story.

Once the names were read aloud, only 65 members could be verified as present—falling far short of the 100 members required for the House to conduct business.
