*YSK: The purpose of highway on-ramps is for you to speed up, not cautiously slow down.*

Why YSK: It's exponentially more dangerous to merge with traffic coming at 65-80mph when you're too slow about it. I'm sure this is taught in basic driver's ed, but I encounter way too many people slowing down (some even stopping!) when merging on to the highway. Speed the fuck up on the ramp and show your intention to merge. The moving traffic will let you in. Edit: To the people who are telling me it depends on prevailing traffic conditions: NO SHIT. I didn't think I needed to specify that if traffic is stopped due to a jam, you obviously aren't going to get up to full speed.
