Long ago when the oceans were lower and cooler I worked laundry at an upscale hotel on the Atlantic coast. The hotel was on a steep slope ending in a cliff above the sea, so every room had a splendid view. Doing industrial laundry is therapeutic, and dropping off the fresh sheets/towels was painless since it was all downhill. The major effort was retaining a grip on the roller bin so it wouldn't go rolling away. (Pushing dirty laundry uphill however was a thankless task). It's a hot August day near the end of the season. Due to the combined heat of the day and the heat/humidity of the laundry my shirt is sopping wet, but the clean sheets must go out. So I fill the rolling bin and start refilling the laundry closets at the top of the slope. I'm on my way down the path to the next set of closets when the hotel owner pops out. "I'm tired of warning you about your appearance. You can't deliver clean goods looking like that. What do you imagine the clients think? You're fired." "So I don't work here anymore?" "As of now, yes." "Okay." I release my hold on the roller bin and it immediately heads downhill, picking up speed.
