Tim Horton's is owned by a Brazilian company. We have Amazon Prime vans on every street. Poutine has become something that Gordon Ramsey cooks up in his rescued UK restaurants. Degrassi Junior High went from Canadian social issues to American-esque soap opera drama. The only Canadian things in the Canadian-set Pixar movie Turning Red were shots of the CN Tower and a woman calling a boy a "hoser" (a word most Canadians don't actually use, by the way). My neighbourhood is bordered by a Costo, an IKEA and a Wal-Mart. Most commercial items sold here are made in China unless you go to local specialty stores or thrift shops. We have condos popping up everywhere, these ugly eyesores too expensive for the average Canadian to afford, and we've lost the things that used to celebrate accurate depictions of our multicultural and Indigenous history. CTV and CBC are flooded with mostly American media, while a lot of Canadian content is relegated to public archives and arthouse theatres on the university campuses. There was this big push in the 90s to promote Canadian culture, so we got a lot of things like the Heritage Minutes or Quebec-based actors in Are You Afraid of the Dark? and stuff, but for the most part, Canada is just a contained version of globalization run mostly by a United States influence. *What is a parody that was done so well that most people to this day don't realize it was a parody?*

Any good examples of this? A movie parody done so convincingly or subtle enough that most people don't even realize that it was meant to be satire? My wife and I were watching that Kristen Bell Netflix spoof series The Girl In the Window etc. Somehow she had no idea that it was a parody of the genre (seemed pretty blatant to me, from the title alone lol).
