*Australia Day date change*

Aboriginal bloke here, (Mandandanji, Gamilaraay.. SEQLD)… I vote for Australia Day to be moved to the last Friday of February every year. You’d have a long weekend every year. No more tues, wed, thu public holidays. It’s a floating day that doesn’t mean shit. Just a cracking long weekend to say goodbye to Summer and celebrate what makes this place great. This debate is toxic every year and distracts from a celebration that should be fantastic. It would also be a good long weekend after being at work for a few weeks. The start of the year is always hectic for us tradies (electrician).. would give all us hard workers from every industry something to look forward to after busting our balls for seven weeks after Christmas/New Years.
