Según los informes de la Policía de Fronteras de Israel, varios agentes encubiertos entraron a la ciudad de Jenin para realizar el arresto de Muhammad Abu Zina, al cual se le acusa de “planificar futuros ataques terroristas en Israel”, pero fueron recibidos con disparos de miembros de las Brigadas Al-Quds (rama militar de la Jihad Islámica Palestina) y de las Brigadas de los Mártires de Al-Aqsa (rama militar del movimiento político Fatah). 4 palestinos (miembros de las milicias/movimientos anteriormente mencionados) fueron asesinados y 1 herido como resultado de este intercambio de disparos. La Policía de Fronteras Israelí no reportó bajas entre sus filas.
