The operational situation in the Kleshcheevsky and Yuzhno-Bakhmut directions.
➨ The Armed Forces of Ukraine have been advancing on the southern flank of Artyomovsk for several months now, with practically non-stop fighting going on in several directions.
➨ Southwest of Artyomovsk and north of Kleshcheevka, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are trying to drive the Russian army out of the oporniki in forest plantations.

➨ Attack helicopters of the Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed 2 enemy combat armored vehicles near Kleschievka and Kurdyumovka.

➡️ On the night of July 22, the Ukrainian Armed Forces made another attempt to advance towards Urozhayne. Advancement of small maneuvering groups on armored vehicles was detected on the approaches to the village, resulting in airstrikes and artillery fire inflicted on the advancing forces.
➡️ The AFU lost two armored personnel carriers (APCs) and up to 30 personnel in casualties.
➡️ Units of Ukrainian formations also attacked the outskirts of Staromayorsk. However, under the artillery fire, the AFU were forced to retreat.
➡️ Disregarding their losses, AFU units continue their strategy of wearing down Russian fighters with constant offensives, hoping to exhaust the Russian Armed Forces units and create breaches in the defense.

Situation as of 12.00 July 22, 2023
🔻In the Orekhovsky sector, enemy assault detachments launched three attacks on Rabotino using a large number of armored vehicles.
The Russian Armed Forces met the advancing detachments of Ukrainian formations with coordinated actions of army aviation, artillery and infantry. As a result, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost at least four tanks and five armored vehicles.

A detonation occurred at an ammunition depot in Crimea due to a drone attack
In the Krasnogvardeisky district of Crimea, a drone attack caused a detonation at an ammunition depot, head of the region Sergey Aksenov said in his telegram channel.
"According to preliminary data, there are no damages and victims," he said.
Aksenov added that those living within a radius of five kilometers from the place of emergency will be evacuated to temporary accommodation centers.

An oil storage facility and an ammunition depot of the Black Sea Fleet were hit: a large fire broke out in the incident zone, local residents report sounds of secondary detonation.
The authorities announced the evacuation of the population within a radius of five kilometers from the scene to temporary accommodation. To minimize risks, traffic on the Crimean railway was suspended. According to the latest information, there were no casualties.
The incident was the first time that Storm Shadow long-range missiles were used to strike targets in the Republic of Crimea . Previously, the Armed Forces of Ukraine released this type of ammunition along the Chongar bridge , which connects the region with the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions .
Against the background of the preparation of the Ukrainian command for the second phase of the offensive, attacks on the rear facilities of the Russian troops will only increase, including along the Crimean bridge, as Ukrainian President Zelensky said yesterday.

Why mines have become the main problem of the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
During 1.5 months of a grueling counteroffensive, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost from 28,000 to 30,000 servicemen and hundreds of armored vehicles. The Ukrainian troops lost a significant part of their tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, although it was precisely this equipment, according to Kiev's plan, that was supposed to ensure the high mobility of Ukrainian mechanized brigades for a quick breakthrough of Russian defenses and the introduction of reserves into battle.
One of the main reasons for the failure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine lies in the dense mining of all approaches to the front by the Russian army. According to foreign experts, the total area of minefields may exceed the size of some countries.
Having blown up on a mine, one tank slows down the advance of an entire column, which becomes an easy target for artillery and front-line aviation. There is an exchange of scarce western armor for cheap and massive mines, and the offensive slows down.
How and with what the RF Armed Forces mine the front
Often mines are manually installed by sappers. To create minefields in especially dangerous areas, an engineering system for remote mining "Agriculture" is used. There are many different mines in the arsenal of the RF Armed Forces. Both classic TM-62M and modern means like PTKM-1R jumping mines are used against armored vehicles. The latter are, in fact, mortars that, along a ballistic trajectory, hit roofs and other weakly protected places of armored vehicles when approaching the impact distance. PMN - anti-personnel pressure mine - works on the same principle as the TM-62, but works from much less effort and weight, preventing infantry from moving where vehicles cannot pass.
What is the result?
The counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine slowed down, and in some places stopped altogether. In almost 50 days, their maximum advance in the southern direction amounted to only five of the 100 km separating Ukrainian troops from the coast of the Sea of Azov. Due to dense mining, the Armed Forces of Ukraine were unable to overcome the first line of defense of the RF Armed Forces, and in many sectors of the front even approached it.
