Why mines have become the main problem of the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
During 1.5 months of a grueling counteroffensive, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost from 28,000 to 30,000 servicemen and hundreds of armored vehicles. The Ukrainian troops lost a significant part of their tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, although it was precisely this equipment, according to Kiev's plan, that was supposed to ensure the high mobility of Ukrainian mechanized brigades for a quick breakthrough of Russian defenses and the introduction of reserves into battle.
One of the main reasons for the failure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine lies in the dense mining of all approaches to the front by the Russian army. According to foreign experts, the total area of ββminefields may exceed the size of some countries.
Having blown up on a mine, one tank slows down the advance of an entire column, which becomes an easy target for artillery and front-line aviation. There is an exchange of scarce western armor for cheap and massive mines, and the offensive slows down.
How and with what the RF Armed Forces mine the front
Often mines are manually installed by sappers. To create minefields in especially dangerous areas, an engineering system for remote mining "Agriculture" is used. There are many different mines in the arsenal of the RF Armed Forces. Both classic TM-62M and modern means like PTKM-1R jumping mines are used against armored vehicles. The latter are, in fact, mortars that, along a ballistic trajectory, hit roofs and other weakly protected places of armored vehicles when approaching the impact distance. PMN - anti-personnel pressure mine - works on the same principle as the TM-62, but works from much less effort and weight, preventing infantry from moving where vehicles cannot pass.
What is the result?
The counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine slowed down, and in some places stopped altogether. In almost 50 days, their maximum advance in the southern direction amounted to only five of the 100 km separating Ukrainian troops from the coast of the Sea of ββAzov. Due to dense mining, the Armed Forces of Ukraine were unable to overcome the first line of defense of the RF Armed Forces, and in many sectors of the front even approached it.

β‘οΈβUkrainians don't know what to do with Leopard 1A5β - Forbes talks about the weaknesses of German tanks.β‘οΈ
π₯βNow that Leopard 1A5 tanks of the 1980s model have begun to arrive in Ukraine, the Ukrainian army must decide what to do with them.
The fact is that the tank, despite the formidable weapon, has a thickness of armor of several tens of millimeters. It is vulnerable to any enemy fire more powerful than a heavy machine gun.
Leopard is only slightly better than the wheeled AMX-10RC, which has been repeatedly defeated at the front. Despite the steel tracks, the tank is still vulnerable to mines and damage to the hull and turret.βπ₯π

Artyomovsk Sector Update As of 14:00 [Local] on July 22, 2023, according to @Rybar
The Russian Armed Forces launched counterattacks on the flanks of Artyomovsk: to the south, near Andreevka, and to the northwest, around Orekhovo-Vasylevka, where Ukrainian forces managed to occupy several positions near the M-03 highway the day before.
Although the attacks were repelled, such incursions by Russian paratroopers and special forces help deprive the AFU of offensive initiative in certain areas.
β‘οΈ @HersonEnot reports that from the side of Bogdanovka, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted to advance towards Berkhovka with the support of armored vehicles. As a result of the Russian artillery actions, one tank and one BMP were destroyed, forcing the Ukrainians to retreat.
β‘οΈ Meanwhile, heavy fighting is taking place in Klescheevka. Russian fighters, entrenched in a tough defense, are repelling the assaults of Ukrainian assault groups that have secured positions on adjacent heights. The advancing Ukrainian units are being targeted with mortar and artillery fire.

π·πΊ Russian military journalists were targeted by Ukrainian forces today: 1 journalist was killed and 3 were wounded.
RIA Novosti's military correspondent Rastislav Zhuravjev was killed, while another from the same media outlet was wounded in addition to 2 war correspondents from the newspaper Izvestia.
π The details of this attack are not known. In any case, the number of injured journalists can indicate that it was a planned attack with high-precision weapons (drone-kamikaze/artillery ammunition).

The enemy throws a large number of armored vehicles into the battle on the Zaporozhye front today.
It can be assumed that the enemy is slowly starting the 2nd phase of their offensive.
So far, our fighters have stood firmly in their positions and fended off enemy attacks. 3 enemy armored vehicles were destroyed in the last hour.

βοΈThe Armed Forces of Ukraine have received BRAT (Bradley Reactive Armor Tiles) dynamic protection kits for the M2A2 Bradley ODS-SA infantry fighting vehicle.
On the published footage of the enemy exercises, you can see the "Bradley" with this set of dynamic protection. Previously, American infantry fighting vehicles were delivered to Ukraine without dynamic protection.
The dynamic protection of the BRAT will make it possible to better withstand the hits of anti-tank missiles and grenade launchers in the frontal and side projection of the vehicle, which will reduce the chance of destroying an infantry fighting vehicle with a single hit. Apparently, the American allies of Ukraine drew conclusions from a whole series of shots of their infantry fighting vehicles being hit by Russian anti-tank systems.
