در دیدارهایم با قانون‌گذاران و سیاستمداران اروپایی تاکید کرده‌ام که معاوضه گروگان‌های‌شان با تروریست‌های رژیم، نه تنها به گروگان‌گیری و تروریسم جمهوری اسلامی پایان نمی‌دهد که این رژیم را تشویق به گروگان‌گیری و اقدامات تروریستی بیشتر می‌کند. بارها در همین دیدارها به آنها گفته‌ام راه‌حل در اقدامی هماهنگ و از موضع قدرت است:

سفرای‌تان را از ایران فرا بخوانید و هم‌زمان سفرای رژیم را اخراج کنید.

In my meetings with European lawmakers and politicians, I have emphasized that exchanging their hostages for the regime’s terrorists will not only fail to end the Islamic Republic’s hostage taking, but it will also encourage the regime to take further hostages and carry out further acts of terrorism. In my meetings, I have made it clear that only solution lies in coordinated action from a position of strength: recall your ambassadors from Tehran and expel the regime's ambassadors.
