"Klangkapsel / Sound Capsule 052 is called Die Toten nähern sich im Traum (The Dead Come Closer in the Dream). Some listeners probably experience from time to time that dead friends and relatives appear in their dreams. Usually, these dream worlds make no difference between the living ones and the dead ones. Both are visible, both are behaving in the same way. Death comes closer. And it seems to be even closer in the dark and long nights of autumn and winter. This ritual and rhythmical composition was recorded on 31.10.2024 by Gerhard Hallstatt at Haus zur letzten Latern. Its atmosphere and aura is close to the early Allerseelen cassettes that consisted of mainly instrumental magical and mystical soundtracks. The working title was 105 Schwer Knoch Tango (105 Heavy Bone Tango). These instruments were used: bones, bass guitar, iron, kettledrum, violin. The title of this soundtrack for an invisible landscape refers to words by Ernst Jünger that he wrote in his dark and melancholic essay November. This text appeared in volume IV of the beautiful brick red twelve-volume book edition Antaios, edited from 1959 to 1971 by the poets and scholars Mircea Eliade, Ernst Jünger and Philipp Wolff-Windegg. The photograph accompanying this sound capsule shows the page with the words by Ernst Jünger in Antaios IV. On the page, there is a small ikon of a cat dreaming inside a chapel on the small island Vlacherna, close to Pontikonisi, the Isle of the Dead on Corfu, Hellas." (Gerhard Hallstatt 01.11.2024)
