Russia's strike campaign against Ukrainian energy infrastructure has begun.

Overnight, Russia launched at least 18 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles and Oniks supersonic cruise missiles at Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, striking the CHP-5, CHP-6, and Trypillya Thermal Power Plants. Large fires broke out following the strikes.

Additionally, numerous Geran-4 and Geran-5 jet-drones were used to attack energy infrastructure, including the aforementioned power plants, as well as other targets across Kyiv.

I believe the chance of Ukraine's energy system collapsing, although still low, is higher than ever. This winter, even according to Donald Tusk, could be catastrophic.

Of course, a collapse of the energy system would cause huge, huge issues at the front.

The status of the emergency Russian counterattacks in Mykolaivka direction has begun to surface.

Russian forces were able to take advantage of the poor consolidation of Ukrainian lines and reverse some of the rapid gains they made.

They were able to re-enter the towns of Ray-Oleksandrivka, Pyskunivka, and push back toward Mykolaivka.

Efforts seem to be ongoing to eliminate the Ukrainian bridgehead at Kryva Luka.

Approximate flight routes of the missiles launched during last night's Russian missile attack on energy infrastructure in Kyiv.

The following was launched:

~6 Oniks-M supersonic cruise missile
~4 Kn-23 ballistic missiles
~4 RM-48U modified S-400 ballistic missiles
~3 Iskander-M ballistic missiles
~2 Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles

~19 missiles in total (+ dozens of Geran-4/5 jet-drones).

Of these 19 missiles, I can only confirm the interception of 1 Oniks supersonic cruise missile by a Patriot PAC-3 interceptor.

The following locations were targeted:

- CHP-5 Combined Heat and Power Plant in southern Kyiv.

- Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant in the city of Vyshhorod, Kyiv Oblast.

- Trypillya Thermal Power Plant in the city of Ukrainka, Kyiv Oblast.

- (Likely) CHP-6 Combined Heat and Power Plant in northeastern Kyiv.

Counting down the top 10 clips of the Ukraine war:

Day 7, number 4:

Operation Spiderweb: 1 June 2025

On the 1st June 2025, one of the most impressive intelligence operation of the modern era occurred, with coordinated Ukrainian FPV drone strikes on Russiaโ€™s Olenya, Dyagilevo, Ivanovo, Belaya and Ukrainka airbases.

Allegedly, this operation took over 18 months of planning, with Ukrainian drones used to carry out the strikes being assembled and transported covertly within Russia. Also, for the first time in history, AI was successfully utilised in a major military operation as an assisting tool.

Extremely skilled Ukrainian drone pilots were able to reliably strike vulnerable points of the aircraft, such as fuel tanks, as to not just temporarily disable the aircraft, but permanently destroy them.

The operation was executed almost flawlessly, and pro-Russian spaces were sent into a flat spin, going into pure damage control mode.

It was confirmed that 10-11 Russian Tupolev 95MS and Tupolev 22M3 strategic bombers were destroyed as a result. Although in the long-term, Russian missile strike capacity has returned to the pre-spiderweb levels of increased, the operation caused huge short-medium term disruption of Kh-101 and Kh-22/32 cruise missile strikes on Ukraine.

Overall, operation Spiderweb was an extremely ambitious and incredibly executed covert operation by the SBU, and the video will go down in history as the most successful and high-value target FPV drone strike to date.

Also, isnโ€™t the video just fucking badass?

Kramatorsk direction, Donetsk oblast.

In line with their recent counterattacks to push Russia back from Lyman and Slovyansk, Ukrainian forces have launched a new serious of counterattacks to push Russia back from the city of Kramatorsk. They were able to successfully clear Russian-controlled tactical heights around Zapovidne, Malynivka, and further south, Tykhonivka and Vasyutynske.

As a result, Ukrainian forces fully recaptured the towns of Orikhuvatka, Zapovidne, and Vasyutinske.

Sumy city direction, Sumy oblast.

Ukrainian forces have also initiated counterattacks to push Russian infiltrators out of the forested areas around Korchakivka, Ivolzhanske and Nova Sich. The Ukrainians were able to clear many of the Russian forces from these areas, fully recapturing the towns of Korchakivka and Nova Sich.

I believe the current series of Ukrainian counterattacks (which has now spread to almost all areas of the front) is due to a combination of Russian forces regrouping, and AFU command potentially getting desperate to achieve some visible results. Both vehicle losses and body exchanges on the Russian side have seen no substantial uptick, and hence there is no indication that the war is beginning to approach a stalemate, and Russia is certainly not on the verge of collapse.

It is possible that this series of counterattacks, if it grows larger, is Ukraine's last-ditch Ludendorff offensive. Keep in mind Donald Tusk's comments of very heavy Ukrainian losses of up to 27k per month, as well as Budanov's comments subtly suggesting that the war needs to reach a negotiated settlement this year. If Ukraine is winning, why would they need to go to the table so badly?

Budanov knows alot that we don't, and it is possible that, like the Ludendorff offensive at the end of WW1, Ukraine are beginning an attempt to make visible gains on the front and then go to the negotiating table in what they percieve as a stronger situation.

Of course, this is largely speculation, but due to the lack of indications of substantial attrition being inflicted on Russia, it is highly likely that Ukrainian gains are being forced through moderate-heavy casualties.

As a pro-Ukrainian, this is of course upsetting and uncomfortable for me to write, and i'll inevitably be called a Russian propangadist for this, but due to the simple fact that Ukraine will run out of manpower before Russia, it's important to view events through this lens.

Another thing i forgot to mention that makes me think it COULD be a desperate last effort is that the AFu is counterattacking in PR important areas, such as Slovyansk/Kramatorsk, Dnipro oblast, and now Sumy city

Unfortunately, it is now October and my horrendous prediction has come back to bite me.

I originally predicted on the April 28th that Slovyansk would fall by October. I reiterated to AMK on June 4th that i still had this prediction.

I am, in fact, embarrassed.
