*Rain prayers (Salaat Al Istisqaa) will be held in all mosques across the UAE today, Friday, 17th October, half an hour before jumuha prayer*

ABU DHABI, 16th October, 2025 (WAM) -- The General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat has announced that, following the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, rain prayers (Salaat Al Istisqaa) will be held across all mosques in the country tomorrow, Friday, 17th October.

The prayer will commence half an hour before the Friday prayer.

The Authority stated that the prayer will be performed in accordance with the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), seeking Allah Almighty’s mercy and blessings for rainfall across the land.
FRIDAY KHUTBA (24-oct-2025)

*”The culture of Giving”*

*First Khutbah:*

All praise is due to Allah, the One whose generosity knows no limits, whose rewards are full of grace. He urges us to charity and benevolence, and He promises reward and divine pleasure, and He promises reward and divine pleasure. We bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone without partner, and we bear witness that our Prophet Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets. May Allah’s peace, blessings, and mercy be upon him, his family, his companions, and all who follow him in righteousness.

To proceed: I advise you, servants of Allah, and myself, to have taqwa of Allah, for He Almighty says: ﴿وَمَا تَفْعَلُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ يَعْلَمْهُ اللَّهُ وَتَزَوَّدُوا فَإِنَّ خَيْرَ الزَّادِ التَّقْوَى﴾.

“And whatever good you do, Allah knows it. And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is taqwa.”

O Believers: Giving is a lofty act of faith and a refined human value. It is the foundation of mutual support, the essence of solidarity, and the peak of virtue.

The culture of giving means giving without expecting anything in return, showing generosity without seeking compensation, and offering without a price, seeking only the pleasure and reward of Allah, the Most High.

O servants of Allah, the fields of giving are vast, and its doors are many. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: «‌كُلُّ ‌مَعْرُوفٍ ‌صَدَقَةٌ»

“Every act of goodness is a charity.”

With this noble hadith, the Prophet ﷺ instilled in the hearts of His Companions the culture of giving and the love of voluntary generosity in every form. If one door of giving was closed, they would open another.

Thus, donating wealth voluntarily is a form of charity; building mosques and hospitals is a form of charity; offering knowledge and expertise is a form of charity; and helping others in any way is also a form of charity.

“Reconciling between two people is charity; helping a man with his mount by lifting him onto it or raising his belongings onto it is charity; a kind word is charity; and removing something harmful from the road is charity.”

And when the Prophet ﷺ was asked, “Which people are most beloved to Allah, and which deeds are most beloved to Allah?”

“The most beloved of people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to others; and the most beloved of deeds to Allah are bringing joy to a Muslim, relieving him from distress, paying off his debt, or warding off his hunger.”

All of these are great forms and noble avenues of voluntary giving. Among the highest and most beneficial of these are generosity in providing food and offering water to drink.

Once our Prophet ﷺ passed by a group of people who volunteered to draw water from a well to give it to others to drink, so he encouraged them, saying: «اعْمَلُوا؛ فَإِنَّكُمْ عَلَى عَمَلٍ صَالِحٍ»،

“Keep doing this good work, for you are engaged in a righteous deed.”

Then He added: I would have joined you, but I feared that if people saw me doing it, they would all rush to copy me. So many would come that they would overwhelm you and take this good deed away from you.

Look, then, at how eager the Prophet ﷺ was to take part in acts of charity that benefit others.

Servants of Allah: Among the greatest and most impactful forms of charity, and those with the highest reward, is endowment (waqf) for its wide-reaching benefit and continuous goodness.

Also included is donating blood, tissues, and organs, in accordance with the Islamic legal guidelines and official regulations, for through such donations lives are saved.
And our Lord, glory be to Him, says: ﴿وَمَنْ أَحْيَاهَا فَكَأَنَّمَا أَحْيَا النَّاسَ جَمِيعًا﴾

“Whoever saves one life, it is as if he had saved all of humanity.”

Such donations give life to souls, bring joy to hearts, restore hope, and bring happiness to families. What form of charity could be nobler, more virtuous, or more greatly rewarded by Allah than this?

Glad tidings, then, to those who give life from their own blood, healing from their own bodies, and mercy and compassion through their giving, these are the people of righteousness and benevolence, whose hearts are filled with mercy and faith.

. ﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْكُمْ﴾.

“O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you.”

I say these words of mine and I ask Allah’s forgiveness for myself and for you, so seek His forgiveness, indeed, He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

*Second Sermon:*

All praise is due to Allah, who has made giving and donation a great gate of righteousness and a noble means to attain reward.
And may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad the Seal of the Messengers and upon his family, his companions, and those who follow them in goodness until the Day of Judgment.

O believers: Giving is not a passing act, but rather a deep-rooted virtue and a continuous behaviour that strengthens the bonds of society and promotes unity and compassion among its members.

Through giving, the donor finds joy in the heart, peace in the soul, and contentment within, in fulfilment of the saying of Allah the Almighty: ﴿وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَى﴾

“And he will surely be pleased.”
Through charity and giving, the soul is purified from stinginess and freed from selfishness.

Allah the Almighty says: ﴿وَمَنْ يُوقَ شُحَّ نَفْسِهِ فَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ﴾

“And whoever is saved from the greed of his own soul, it is they who are the successful.”

And in the Hereafter, Allah will compensate the donors for whatever they have given, granting them many times over what they have spent, as He, Exalted be His Majesty, says:

﴿وَمَا أَنْفَقْتُمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَهُوَ يُخْلِفُهُ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ﴾

“And whatever you spend of anything [in charity] He will replace it; and He is the best of providers.” ﴿وَمَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَى أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ﴾

“And what is with Allah is better and more lasting. Will you not then understand?”

So, O servants of Allah, do not deprive yourselves of the virtue and reward of giving, even through the smallest act you can afford or the simplest good you can offer. Strengthen the culture of giving within your families, instill it in your children, and your Lord will be pleased with you, and your community will prosper.

O Allah, make generosity our culture, giving our way, kindness our character, and benevolence our nature. Make us beneficial to Your creation, successful in doing good, swift to the fields of righteousness, and sincere in seeking Your pleasure.

O Allah, grant us generous hearts
that give without withholding, that do good without boasting, that donate without hesitation, that hasten to goodness without delay, hearts that seek Your Face through their giving, and Your pleasure and reward through their charity.

O Allah, send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, the Seal of the Messengers, and upon his family, his companions, and the followers. And be pleased, O Allah, with Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali, and with all the honorable companions.

O Allah, make us believers in You, worshippers of You, foremost in charity, and dutiful to our parents. And have mercy upon them as they raised us when we were young, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

O You who does not turn away those who call upon You, and who does not disappoint those who hope in You.
Who is it that called upon You and You did not answer? Who is it that sought Your protection and You did not grant it? And who is it that sought Your help and You did not assist him? Guide us with Your guidance, make our deeds according to Your pleasure, fulfill our needs, cure our sick, have mercy on our deceased, protect our children, and grant happiness to our families, O Lord of the worlds.

O Allah, protect the state of the UAE with Your protection, attend to it with Your care, and surround it with Your providence, O Lord of the worlds.

O Allah, preserve the President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, grant him perpetual righteousness and wisdom, and grant success to him, his deputies, his brothers the Rulers of the Emirates, and his trustworthy Crown Prince in all that You love and are pleased with.

O Allah, have mercy upon Sheikh Zayed, Sheikh Rashid, and all the sheikhs of the Emirates who have passed into Your mercy. Admit them, by Your grace, into Your spacious gardens, and include the martyrs of our nation in Your mercy and forgiveness.

O Allah, have mercy on the Muslim men and Muslim women, the living among them and the dead.

O Allah, O You of Vast Mercy, O You of Great Favor, grant us rain and do not make us among the despondent. O Allah, send us rain! O Allah, send us rain!

O Allah, send us rain! O Allah, we seek Your forgiveness, indeed You are Ever-Forgiving, so send down upon us abundant rain from the sky. O Allah, grant us a relieving rain, wholesome and beneficial, with which You revive the land, have mercy on the people, and make it a source of strength and provision for a time.

Servants of Allah: Remember Allah, the Great, the Majestic, and He will remember you. And thank Him for His blessings, and He will increase you. And establish the prayer.

Quran 19 chapter 98 verse↘️

Kãf-Ha-Ya-’Aĩn- Ṣãd. (1) This is˺ a reminder of your Lord’s mercy to His servant Zachariah, (2)when he cried out to his Lord privately, (3) saying, “My Lord! Surely my bones have become brittle, and grey hair has spread across my head, but I have never been disappointed in my prayer to You, my Lord! (4)And I am concerned about ˹the faith of˺ my relatives after me, since my wife is barren. So grant me, by Your grace, an heir, (5)who will inherit ˹prophethood˺ from me and the family of Jacob, and make him, O Lord, pleasing ˹to You˺!”(6)The angels announced,˺ “O Zachariah! Indeed, We give you the good news of ˹the birth of˺ a son, whose name will be John—a name We have not given to anyone before.”(7)He wondered, “My Lord! How can I have a son when my wife is barren, and I have become extremely old?”(8)An angel replied, “So will it be! Your Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me, just as I created you before, when you were nothing!’”(9)Zachariah said, “My Lord! Grant me a sign.” He responded, “Your sign is that you will not ˹be able to˺ speak to people for three nights, despite being healthy.”(10)So he came out to his people from the sanctuary, signalling to them to glorify ˹Allah˺ morning and evening.(11)It was later said,˺ “O John! Hold firmly to the Scriptures.” And We granted him wisdom while ˹he was still˺ a child,(12)as well as purity and compassion from Us. And he was God-fearing,(13)and kind to his parents. He was neither arrogant nor disobedient. (14) Peace be upon him the day he was born, and the day of his death, and the day he will be raised back to life!(15)And mention in the Book ˹O Prophet, the story of˺ Mary when she withdrew from her family to a place in the east,(16)screening herself off from them. Then We sent to her Our angel, ˹Gabriel,˺ appearing before her as a man, perfectly formed.(17)She appealed, “I truly seek refuge in the Most Compassionate from you! ˹So leave me alone˺ if you are God-fearing.”(18)He responded, “I am only a messenger from your Lord, ˹sent˺ to bless you with a pure son.”(19)She wondered, “How can I have a son when no man has ever touched me, nor am I unchaste?”(20)He replied, “So will it be! Your Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me. And so will We make him a sign for humanity and a mercy from Us.’ It is a matter ˹already˺ decreed.”(21)So she conceived him and withdrew with him to a remote place.(22)Then the pains of labour drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She cried, “Alas! I wish I had died before this, and was a thing long forgotten!”(23)So a voice1 reassured her from below her, “Do not grieve! Your Lord has provided a stream at your feet.[_This was the voice of baby Jesus. Some say it was Gabriel._]
(24)And shake the trunk of this palm tree towards you, it will drop fresh, ripe dates upon you.(25)So eat and drink, and put your heart at ease. But if you see any of the people, say, ‘I have vowed silence*1* to the Most Compassionate, so I am not talking to anyone today.’”
[lit., fast ˹from speech˺. Linguistically, ṣawm means to abstain from something, such as food, speaking, and playing.] (26) Then she returned to her people, carrying him. They said ˹in shock˺, “O Mary! You have certainly done a horrible thing!(27)O sister of Aaron!*1* Your father was not an indecent man, nor was your mother unchaste.” [i.e., his twin in virtue. They meant that they did not expect her to do something like that because they held her in high esteem like Aaron, Moses’ brother (perhaps because she was his descendant).] (28)So she pointed to the baby. They exclaimed, “How can we talk to someone who is an infant in the cradle?”(29)Jesus declared, “I am truly a servant of Allah. He has destined me to be given the Scripture and to be a prophet.(30)He has made me a blessing wherever I go, and bid me to establish prayer and give alms-tax as long as I live,(31)and to be kind to my mother. He has not made me arrogant or defiant.(32)Peace be upon me the day I was born, the day I die, and the day I will be raised back to life!”(33)That is Jesus, son of Mary.
˹And this is˺ a word of truth, about which they dispute.(34)It is not for Allah to take a son! Glory be to Him. When He decrees a matter, He simply tells it, “Be!” And it is!(35)Jesus also declared,˺ “Surely Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him ˹alone˺. This is the Straight Path.”(36)Yet their ˹various˺ groups have differed among themselves ˹about him˺, so woe to the disbelievers when they face a tremendous Day!(37)How clearly will they hear and see on the Day they will come to Us! But today the wrongdoers are clearly astray.(38)And warn them ˹O Prophet˺ of the Day of Regret, when all matters will be settled, while they are ˹engrossed˺ in heedlessness and disbelief.(39)Indeed, it is We Who will succeed the earth and whoever is on it. And to Us they will ˹all˺ be returned.(40)And mention in the Book ˹O Prophet, the story of˺ Abraham. He was surely a man of truth and a prophet.(41)˹Remember˺ when he said to his father, “O dear father! Why do you worship what can neither hear nor see, nor benefit you at all?(42)O dear father! I have certainly received some knowledge which you have not received, so follow me and I will guide you to the Straight Path.(43) O dear father! Do not worship Satan. Surely Satan is ever rebellious against the Most Compassionate.(44)O dear father! I truly fear that you will be touched by a torment from the Most Compassionate, and become Satan’s companion ˹in Hell˺.”(45)He threatened, “How dare you reject my idols, O Abraham! If you do not desist, I will certainly stone you ˹to death˺. So be gone from me for a long time!”(46)Abraham responded, “Peace be upon you! I will pray to my Lord for your forgiveness. He has truly been Most Gracious to me.(47)As I distance myself from ˹all of˺ you and from whatever you invoke besides Allah, I will ˹continue to˺ call upon my Lord ˹alone˺, trusting that I will never be disappointed in invoking my Lord.”(48)So after he had left them and what they worshipped besides Allah, We granted him Isaac and Jacob, and made each of them a prophet.(49)We showered them with Our mercy, and blessed them with honourable mention.*1*[On a daily basis, Muslims invoke Allah’s blessings upon Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ) and his family and Prophet Abraham (ﷺ) and his family, in both obligatory and optional prayers.](50) And mention in the Book ˹O Prophet, the story of˺ Moses. He was truly a chosen man, and was a messenger and a prophet.(51)We called him from the right side of Mount Ṭûr, and drew him near, speaking ˹with him˺ directly.(52)And We appointed for him—out of Our grace—his brother, Aaron, as a prophet.(53)And mention in the Book ˹O Prophet, the story of˺ Ishmael. He was truly a man of his word, and was a messenger and a prophet.(54)He used to urge his people to pray and give alms-tax. And his Lord was well pleased with him.(55)And mention in the Book ˹O Prophet, the story of˺ Enoch. He was surely a man of truth and a prophet.(56)And We elevated him to an honourable status.*1*[Prophet Enoch (Idrîs) (ﷺ) is said to be in the fourth heaven.](56) Those were ˹some of˺ the prophets who Allah has blessed from among the descendants of Adam, and of those We carried with Noah ˹in the Ark˺, and of the descendants of Abraham and Israel,*1* and of those We ˹rightly˺ guided and chose. Whenever the revelations of the Most Compassionate were recited to them, they fell down, prostrating and weeping.[Israel is another name for Jacob (ﷺ).](58) But they were succeeded by generations who neglected prayer and followed their lusts and so will soon face the evil consequences.*1*[The word ghai can either mean the evil consequences or a valley in Hell where they will be punished.] (59)As for those who repent, believe, and do good, it is they who will be admitted into Paradise, never being denied any reward.(60)˹They will be in˺ the Gardens of Eternity, promised in trust by the Most Compassionate to His servants. Surely His promise will be fulfilled.(61)There they will never hear any idle talk—only ˹greetings of˺ peace. And there they will have their provisions morning and evening.
*1*[There is no day or night in Paradise, only light. The verse says that the residents of Paradise will either be receiving provisions around these worldly times or without failure. Words such as morning and evening are used to make it easier for the people to understand.](62) That is Paradise, which We will grant to whoever is devout among Our servants. (63)We only descend by the command of your Lord. To Him belongs whatever is before us, and whatever is behind us, and everything in between. And your Lord is never forgetful.(64)He is the˺ Lord of the heavens, and the earth, and everything in between. So worship Him ˹alone˺, and be steadfast in His worship. Do you know of anyone equal to Him ˹in His attributes˺?”(65)Yet ˹some˺ people ask ˹mockingly˺, “After I die, will I really be raised to life again?”(66)Do ˹such˺ people not remember that We created them before, when they were nothing?(67)By your Lord ˹O Prophet˺! We will surely gather them along with the devils, and then set them around Hell on their knees.(68)Then We will certainly begin by dragging out of every group the ones most defiant to the Most Compassionate.(69)And We truly know best who is most deserving of burning in it.(70)There is none of you who will not pass over it.*1* ˹This is˺ a decree your Lord must fulfil.[This refers to the bridge (known as Aṣ-Ṣirâṭ) which is extended over Hell. Both the believers and disbelievers will be made to cross that bridge. The believers will cross it safely, each at a different speed according to the strength of their faith, whereas the disbelievers and the hypocrites will plunge into the Fire](71) Then We will deliver those who were devout, leaving the wrongdoers there on their knees.(72)When Our clear revelations are recited to them, the disbelievers ask the believers ˹mockingly˺, “Which of the two of us is better in status and superior in assembly?”(73)˹Imagine, O Prophet˺ how many peoples We have destroyed before them, who were far better in luxury and splendour!(74)Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Whoever is ˹entrenched˺ in misguidance, the Most Compassionate will allow them plenty of time, until—behold!—they face what they are threatened with: either the torment or the Hour. Only then will they realize who is worse in position and inferior in manpower.”(75)And Allah increases in guidance those who are ˹rightly˺ guided. And the everlasting good deeds are far better with your Lord in reward and in outcome.*1*[ See footnote for 18:46.](76) Have you seen ˹O Prophet˺ the one1 who rejects Our revelations yet boasts, “I will definitely be granted ˹plenty of˺ wealth and children ˹if there is an afterlife˺.”?(77)Has he looked into the unseen or taken a pledge from the Most Compassionate?(78)Not at all! We certainly record whatever he claims and will increase his punishment extensively.(79)And We will inherit what he boasts of, and he will come before Us all by himself.(80)They have taken other gods, instead of Allah, seeking strength ˹and protection˺ through them.(81)But no! Those ˹gods˺ will deny their worship and turn against them.(82)Do you ˹O Prophet˺ not see that We have sent the devils against the disbelievers, constantly inciting them?(83)So do not be in haste against them, for indeed We are ˹closely˺ counting down their days.(84)˹Watch for˺ the Day We will gather the righteous before the Most Compassionate as an honoured delegation,(85)and drive the wicked to Hell like a thirsty herd.(86)None will have the right to intercede, except those who have taken a covenant from the Most Compassionate.*1*[No one will be allowed to intercede except those who firmly believe in Almighty Allah.](87)They *1* say, “The Most Compassionate has offspring.”[The pagans who claimed that the angels are Allah’s daughters, the Christians who claim that Jesus is the son of Allah, etc.] (88) You have certainly made an outrageous claim,(89)by which the heavens are about to burst, the earth to split apart, and the mountains to crumble to pieces(90)in protest of attributing children to the Most Compassionate.
(91)It does not befit ˹the majesty of˺ the Most Compassionate to have children.(92)There is none in the heavens or the earth who will not return to the Most Compassionate in full submission.(93)Indeed, He fully knows them and has counted them precisely.(94)And each of them will return to Him on the Day of Judgment all alone.(95)As for those who believe and do good, the Most Compassionate will ˹certainly˺ bless them with ˹genuine˺ love.(96)Indeed, We have made this ˹Quran˺ easy in your own language ˹O Prophet˺ so with it you may give good news to the righteous and warn those who are contentious.(97)˹Imagine˺ how many peoples We have destroyed before them! Do you ˹still˺ see any of them, or ˹even˺ hear from them the slightest sound? (98)
📢📢In UAE 🇦🇪 , the unified *Friday Jumu'ah prayer time* is now *12:45 PM,* effective from January 2, 2026, a change from the previous 1:15 PM timing, to provide consistency across all mosques in the UAE. Worshippers should aim to arrive by 12:45 PM for the sermon (Khutbah) and prayer
