FRIDAY KHUTBA 27-02-2026* 🎙️🇦🇪
_Indeed, in Joseph and his brothers there are signs_ 🤲🏻
*First Sermon*
All praise is due to Allah, who sent down the Book upon His servant and placed in its stories as lessons for those of understanding. Glorified be He — He decreed destinies with subtle wisdom, and He manages outcomes so that those who reflect may take heed. We bear witness that there is nothing worthy of worship but Allah, and we bear witness that our master Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, send prayers, peace, and blessings upon him, upon his family, his companions, and all who follow his guidance.
To proceed: I advise you, O servants of Allah, and myself, to have taqwa of Allah and to be patient in His worship, Exalted and Most High. For this month of yours is the month of taqwa, excellence, and patience in obedience to the Most Merciful.
“Indeed, whoever has taqwa and is patient — then surely Allah does not allow the reward of the doers of good to be lost.” (Qur’an 12:90)
O those who are fasting: In the month of the Qur’an, we pause with one of the most beautiful surahs of the Qur’an, which opens with the words of the Most Merciful:
“Alif Lām Rā. These are the verses of the clear Book. Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur’an so that you may understand. We relate to you the best of stories…” (Qur’an 12:1–3)
Because of the depth of its meanings and the wondrous unfolding of Allah’s decree within it, it is the Surah of Yusuf (peace be upon him). ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (may Allah be pleased with him) once recited it during the ʿIshāʾ prayer, and the sound of his sobbing was heard from the back rows; and he recited it in Fajr and wept until his voice broke and he bowed (reported in the narrations of the early scholars).
This, O servants of Allah, is Surah Yusuf, which begins with a dream seen by Yusuf (peace be upon him). He shared it with the one closest to his heart — his compassionate and loving father — saying:
“O my father, indeed I saw eleven stars, and the sun and the moon — I saw them prostrating to me.” (Qur’an 12:4)
His father answered him with the wisdom of a sincere adviser, aware of the consequences of envy and the entrances of Shayṭān:
“O my son, do not relate your vision to your brothers, lest they plot against you a plot. Indeed, Shayṭān is to man a clear enemy.” (Qur’an 12:5)
And how could it be otherwise? Shayṭān stirred enmity between him and his brothers. He entered among them through jealousy and resentment:
“They said, ‘Joseph and his brother are more beloved to our father than we, while we are a strong group.’” (Qur’an 12:8)
Then they transgressed further:
“Indeed, our father is in clear error. Kill Joseph or cast him out to some land so that your father’s attention may be devoted to you, and after that you may become righteous people.” (Qur’an 12:8–9)
How terrible envy is! Shayṭān made their evil deed appear fair to them and diverted them from righteousness toward their father and mercy toward their brother — who most needed their compassion, being young and having lost his mother. Did they not know that Allah had chosen him and would complete His favor upon him and the family of Yaʿqūb?
“Indeed, your Lord is Knowing and Wise.” (Qur’an 12:6)
So cut off, O brothers, the early signs of division.

“Indeed, your Lord is Knowing and Wise.” (Qur’an 12:6)
So cut off, O brothers, the early signs of division.
Revive affection among yourselves. Beware of quarrelling with your siblings over fleeting worldly matters, weak assumptions, or passing ambitions. Does it not matter to you that your parents suffer and grieve because of hatred between you? Have you not seen the state of our master Yaʿqūb? His heart was torn:
“And his eyes turned white from grief, for he was suppressing his sorrow.” (Qur’an 12:84)
“By Allah, you will not cease remembering Joseph until you become fatally ill or perish.” He said, ‘I only complain of my sorrow and grief to Allah, and I know from Allah that which you do not know.’” (Qur’an 12:85–86)
Allahu Akbar! How tremendous is certainty in Allah. With certainty he entrusted his sons to his Lord, saying:
“So, Allah is the best Guardian, and He is the Most Merciful of the merciful.” (Qur’an 12:64)
And Allah indeed preserves what is entrusted to Him. The Prophet ﷺ said: إِذَا اسْتُودِعَ شَيْئًا حَفِظَهُ
“When something is entrusted to Allah, He preserves it.” (Reported by Aḥmad and others)
Yaʿqūb held firmly to the rope of his Lord and clung to patience and hope, saying:
“So, patience is most fitting. Perhaps Allah will bring them to me all together.” (Qur’an 12:83)
Thus, he teaches us that patience in raising children is the secret of their uprightness and hope in them is the path to preparing them well. Yaʿqūb endured separation from his son for forty years (as mentioned in reports of the scholars). Indeed:
“He was patient, and that was better for him.” (Sahih Muslim).
After patience, goodness followed him:
“And Allah is predominant over His affair.” (Qur’an 12:21)
And Allah says:
“O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you.” (Qur’an 4:59)
I say these words of mine and seek forgiveness from Allah for me and for you — so seek His forgiveness
*Second Sermon*
All praise is due to Allah alone, and prayers and peace be upon the one after whom there is no prophet.
To proceed: O believers: Indeed, Sūrat Yūsuf is a surah comprehensive in lessons and wisdom — comforting to the heart, dispelling pain and sorrow. It has been said:
“No grieving person listens to it except that he finds relief in it.” For it renews hope in Allah and removes despair from His mercy, exalted and Most High. Its ending reflects back upon its beginning: it portrays the brothers divided at the start and shows how they were reunited at the end. Between those moments, Yaʿqūb never despaired. Rather, he said to his sons:
“Do not despair of relief from Allah.” (Qur’an 12:87)
So, Allah honoured him by reuniting Joseph with his brothers. When they recognized him:
“They said, ‘Are you indeed Joseph?’ He said, ‘I am Joseph, and this is my brother. Allah has certainly favoured us.’” (Qur’an 12:90)
And the good news reached Yaʿqūb:
“So, his sight returned to him.” (Qur’an 12:96)
Glory be to the One who manages all affairs. He reunited Yaʿqūb with his son after separation, and replaced his sorrow with joy and happiness:
“And he raised his parents upon the throne, and they fell before him in prostration. He said, ‘O my father, this is the interpretation of my dream before; my Lord has made it a reality.’” (Qur’an 12:100)
“And his eyes turned white from grief, for he was suppressing his sorrow.” (Qur’an 12:84)

“And he raised his parents upon the throne, and they fell before him in prostration. He said, ‘O my father, this is the interpretation of my dream before; my Lord has made it a reality.’” (Qur’an 12:100)
No matter how severe trials become, Allah’s relief is near and His subtle kindness is wondrous:
“Indeed, my Lord is Subtle in what He wills. Indeed, He is the Knowing, the Wise.” (Qur’an 12:100)
And whatever division or conflict occurs between you and your brothers, say as Yūsuf said to his brothers:
“No blame will there be upon you today.” (Qur’an 12:92)
Meaning: no reproach, no rebuke. For noble souls do not carry rancor. That, O servants of Allah, is the story of Yūsuf — and he is:
“The noble one, son of the noble one, son of the noble one, son of the noble one.” (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī)
He is Yūsuf the truthful, Yūsuf of family, Yūsuf of chastity, Yūsuf of wisdom, Yūsuf of sound judgment, Yūsuf of forgiveness.
So read his surah, act upon its values, and plant love of learning the Qur’an in the hearts of your children, so that they may be among the best of people in rank before Allah. The Prophet ﷺ said: خَيْرُكُمْ مَنْ تَعَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ وَعَلَّمَهُ
“The best of you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.” (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī)
And competing in recitation of the Qur’an is something our Prophet ﷺ encouraged when he said:
“The one who is proficient in the Qur’an will be with the noble, righteous scribes.” (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī and Muslim)
Our wise leadership has made supporting the memorizers of the Book of Allah a clear path, a firmly rooted tree in our land whose fruits extend to our children. The Dubai International Holy Qur’an Award, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum — may Allah preserve him — stands as a strong continuation of supporting the Qur’an and its people in our country, in recognition of the Qur’an’s effect in strengthening faith, refining souls, and elevating character. Its recitation straightens the tongue, and in its stories there are lessons and clarification. Allah says:
“Indeed, in their stories there was a lesson for those of understanding. It was not a narration invented, but a confirmation of what was before it and a detailed explanation of all things, and guidance and mercy for a people who believe.” (Qur’an 12:111)
With this we send our prayers and blessings upon our Prophet. O Allah, peace and blessings upon our master and Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family, his companions, and the followers. O Allah, be pleased with Abu Bakr, ʿUmar, ʿUthmān, ʿAlī, and all the noble companions. O Allah, make the Great Qur’an the spring of our hearts and the remover of our sorrows.
O Allah, just as You protected Yūsuf from hardships, trials, indecency, and temptations — save us from what is apparent of them and what is hidden. O Allah, make us believers in You, worshippers devoted to You, reciters of the Qur’an, reflectors upon its surahs, successful in Ramadan, dutiful to our parents — and have mercy on them as they raised us when we were small, O Most Merciful of the merciful. O Allah, protect the United Arab Emirates with Your protection, envelop it in the abundance of Your blessings, increase it from Your vast bounty, and preserve its prosperity and flourishing, O Lord of the worlds. O Allah, protect Sheikh Muhammad bin Zayed, President of the State, with Your protection, encompass him with Your care, make his work in obedience to You, and grant success to him, his deputies, his brothers the rulers of the Emirates, and his trustworthy Crown Prince in what You love and are pleased with.

O Allah, have mercy upon Sheikh Zayed, Sheikh Rashid, and the rulers of the Emirates who have passed on to Your mercy; admit them by Your grace into Your spacious gardens, and encompass the martyrs of the homeland with Your mercy and forgiveness. O Allah, have mercy on the Muslim men and women, the believing men and women — the living and the deceased. O Allah, send us rain and do not make us among the despairing. O Allah, send us relief. O Allah, send us relief. O Allah, send us relief.
O Servants of Allah: Remember Allah, the Mighty and Majestic — He will remember you. Be grateful to Him for His blessings — He will increase you. And establish the prayer

FRIDAY KHUTBA 13-03-2026* 🎙️🇦🇪
✨*🤲🏻 Sūrat al-Qadr* ✨
🤲🏻
First Sermon
All praise is due to Allah, the Originator and the Restorer, who spreads His mercy over His servants— “And He is the Protecting Friend, the Praiseworthy.” (Qurʾān 42:28). Glory be to Him, the Breaker of every tyrant and stubborn oppressor— “Indeed, the seizure of your Lord is severe.” (Qurʾān 85:12). We bear witness that there is nothing worthy of worship except Allah, and we bear witness that our master Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, send Your prayers, peace, and blessings upon him, upon his family, his companions, and all who follow his guidance in the best of ways until the Last Day.
As for what follows: I counsel you, O servants of God, and myself to have taqwā of Allah your Lord, and to act according to what He has commanded you, so that you may succeed in your worldly life and your hereafter. Listen to the call of your Creator:
“O you who believe! Be patient, persevere, remain steadfast, and be mindful of Allah so that you may succeed.” (Qurʾān 3:200)
O you who fast, who stand in prayer, who humble yourselves in devotion, who remember Allah. O you who move between various acts of obedience, ascending through the ranks of nearness to your Lord— Rejoice and be glad, for Allah has granted you a gift from Himself and a great favour, and has sent down to you a remembrance from Him.
Before its meanings the hearts stand in humility, and the tongues continually praise Allah for what He has revealed within it. It is the Book of our Lord, which He sent down:
“In a blessed night.” (Qurʾān 44:3)
In that night the decrees are determined, judgments are decided, provisions and lifespans are written, along with all the affairs of the coming year.
It is Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Decree. Allah, the Exalted revealed an entire chapter bearing its name, to magnify its rank and to exalt its status. It is a chapter short in its wording, yet immense in its meaning.
It appears between two noble chapters: before it is Sūrat al-ʿAlaq, which begins with the command “Read” (Qurʾān 96:1) and indicates the beginning of revelation and its moment of descent. After it comes Sūrat al-Bayyinah, which speaks of the manifestation of its light and its clear proof. Thus, Sūrat al-Qadr stands between them, clarifying the honour of its time.
In the Name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate:
“Indeed, We sent it down on the Night of Decree.” (Qurʾān 97:1)
Reflect on how many indications of reverence are contained in this noble verse—reverence for Allah, and for the night in which the Book of Allah was revealed.
One of the righteous said:
A book of immense rank was revealed on it, through an angel of great rank, upon a prophet of great rank.
O servants of Allah: Reflect on how Allah repeats the mention of Laylat al-Qadr three times in the chapter. This repetition draws the ear to the greatness of its significance and plants in the hearts an awareness of its majesty. Then comes the noble question:
“And what will make you know what the Night of Decree is?” (Qurʾān 97:2)
This question stirs the hearts and awakens the intellects, announcing that its true reality is beyond human comprehension and that its virtue cannot be fully grasped by human beings. Then comes the magnificent answer:
“The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.” (Qurʾān 97:3)
The verse does not say equal to a thousand months—it says better than a thousand months, indicating a virtue that surpasses ordinary measures. It is a night whose deeds surpass the deeds of an entire long lifetime of worship.

The verse does not say equal to a thousand months—it says better than a thousand months, indicating a virtue that surpasses ordinary measures. It is a night whose deeds surpass the deeds of an entire long lifetime of worship.
So, blessed is the one whom Allah finds among the rows of those who stand in prayer in humility, whose voice is heard among the supplicants pleading with their Lord, or whom He sees among the charitable and the righteous hastening toward goodness.
So, seize the opportunity of all the last ten nights of Ramadan, following the example of the Prophet ﷺ. For it is reported that:
“When the last ten nights entered, the Prophet ﷺ would tighten his waist-wrapper, spend the night in worship, and awaken his family.” (Saḥīḥ al-Bukhārī; Saḥīḥ Muslim)
And give special effort to the odd nights, for the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Seek Laylat al-Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadan.” (Saḥīḥ al-Bukhārī)
This is more likely to ensure that you do not miss Laylat al-Qadr. It is a tremendous night for the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever is deprived of its goodness has truly been deprived.” (Musnad Aḥmad)
How could it not be so? On that night the noble angels descend, and among them is Jibrīl (Gabriel), peace be upon him, arriving group after group:
“The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord with every decree.” (Qurʾān 97:4)
“Indeed, the angels on that night are more numerous on earth than the pebbles.” (Musnad Aḥmad; al-Bayhaqī)
They greet the believers and say Āmīn to the supplications of the worshippers. So blessed is the one who stands that night sincerely for his Lord, remembering the words of the Prophet ﷺ:
“Whoever stands in prayer on Laylat al-Qadr with faith and seeking reward will have his previous sins forgiven.”
(Saḥīḥ al-Bukhārī; Saḥīḥ Muslim)
And how fortunate is the one who repeats the supplication taught by the Prophet ﷺ when Lady ʿĀʾishah (may God be pleased with her) asked: “O Messenger of God, if I know which night is Laylat al-Qadr, what should I say in it?”
“Say: O Allah, You are Pardoning, You love to pardon, so pardon me.” (Sunan al-Tirmidhī)
Allah the Exalted says: “O you who believe, obey God and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you.” (Qurʾān 4:59) I say these words of mine and ask Allah for forgiveness for me and for you, so seek His forgiveness.
The Second Sermon
All praise belongs to Allah alone, and prayers and peace be upon the one after whom there is no prophet.
As for what follows: O you who are fasting: Allah the Exalted says at the conclusion of Sūrat al-Qadr:
“Peace there is until the rising of dawn.” (Qurʾān 97:5)
It is a peace that envelops the souls, filling them with tranquillity and serenity. It spreads across the earth, covering it with security, blessing, and mercy. Consider how Allah desires peace for His servants and spreads for them the causes of reassurance. Yet the transgressing aggressors oppose the command of God and
“spread corruption in the land.” (Qurʾān 2:27)
Thus, the words of our Lord—Glorious and Exalted—prove true regarding them:
“Whenever they kindle the fire of war, God extinguishes it; and they strive throughout the land spreading corruption, and God does not love corrupters.” (Qurʾān 5:64)
But far be it that they should shake our trust in our Lord, or disturb our security, or weaken our unity. For we draw reassurance from the words of our Lord:
“Until the rising of dawn.” (Qurʾān 97:5)
So, seize the opportunity of all the last ten nights of Ramadan, following the example of the Prophet ﷺ. For it is reported that:

—that dawn will inevitably come, and that victory will surely arrive.
“Indeed, with hardship comes ease. Indeed, with hardship comes ease.” (Qurʾān 94:5–6)
Our Lord—Mighty and Majestic—preserves this land and honour it through its acts of goodness, in accordance with the words of the Prophet ﷺ:
“Acts of kindness protect from evil ends.” (Al-Jami' as-Saghir)
Thus, it extends its helping hands to near and far alike through aid and generosity. It assists the needy and supports the weak. Among the acts of goodness that we witness is that supported by His Highness Sheikh Muḥammad bin Zāyed, President of the State—may God preserve him—through the initiative “The Mother of the Nation Initiative for Orphans’ Sponsorship,” implemented through the Abu Dhabi Awqāf Authority. So, participate in it and receive from God a noble reward.
Fill these blessed days with acts of obedience and take advantage of them through abundant remembrance and humble supplication to your Creator. For He has commanded you to supplicate and promised you a response, saying:
“Call upon Me and I will respond to you.” (Qurʾān 40:60)
O Allah, Answerer of supplications:
Preserve our homeland, the United Arab Emirates. Preserve its leadership, its people, and those who reside upon its land. Protect its land, its sea, and its sky with a protection befitting Your power and authority. Grant it victory befitting Your might and Your magnificent rank. Encompass it with Your care and security. Grant it lasting safety, dignity, and prosperity, O Possessor of Majesty and Honour. O Allah, protect it from the aggression of aggressors and from the evil of enemies and those who harbour hatred. O Allah, recompense them for their crimes, deal with them according to their evil deeds and corrupt intentions, and turn their plots back upon themselves.
Protect our country, O Lord of the worlds. O Allah, protect the brave soldiers of our homeland. Strengthen them, fortify their resolve, guide their aim, and grant them victory over Your enemies and theirs. Grant them abundant reward and recompense.
O Allah, send prayers and peace upon our master and Prophet Muḥammad, and upon all his family and companions. O Allah, be pleased with Abū Bakr, ʿUmar, ʿUthmān, and ʿAlī, and with all the noble Companions. O Allah, accept from us our fasting, our night prayers, and our recitation of the Qurʾān.
Help us in obedience to You, O Most Merciful. Make us believers through You, worshippers devoted to You, and among those who attain the reward of Laylat al-Qadr. Make us dutiful to our parents and have mercy upon them as they raised us when we were young, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
O Allah, preserve Sheikh Muḥammad bin Zāyed, President of the State. Guard him with Your protection, surround him with Your mercy, encompass him with Your care, and shelter him with Your providence. Make his work devoted to Your obedience. Support him with Your victory. Guide him to what is right. Be for him a helper, supporter, guide, and one who grants success.
Illuminate his insight, bless his efforts, guide his speech and actions, and bless his life and work. Make him a key to goodness and a barrier against evil, successful in every matter.
O Allah, grant success to him, to his deputies, to his brothers the rulers of the Emirates, and to his trusted Crown Prince in what You love and are pleased with.
O Allah, have mercy upon Sheikh Zāyed, Sheikh Rāshid, and the rulers of the Emirates who have passed into Your mercy. Admit them through Your grace into the vastness of Your Paradise.
Encompass the martyrs of the nation with Your mercy and forgiveness, grant them abundant reward, and shower them with Your bounty. Reward their families with the best reward given to the patient. O Allah, have mercy upon the Muslim men and women, the living among them and the deceased. O Allah, send us rain and do not make us among those who despair.

First Khutbah
All praise belongs to Allah, the All-Powerful, the All-Encompassing, the One who gives and withholds. By His grace, those who hope attach themselves to Him, and upon Him those who trust place their reliance. We bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, without partner, and we bear witness that our master and Prophet Muḥammad is the servant of Allah and His Messenger. O Allah, send Your prayers, peace, and blessings upon him, upon his family, his companions, and all those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
To continue: I enjoin you, O servants of Allah—and myself—to have taqwā of Allah. The Exalted says:
“Indeed, Allah is with those who have taqwā of Him and those who excel in goodness” (Qurʾān 16:128).
O believers: On one occasion, ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with them both) was riding behind the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet turned to him with the gaze of a compassionate nurturer and a wise teacher, then addressed his heart with words that made the young boy feel his worth and his place in the care of the Messenger ﷺ. He said: يَا غُلَامُ
“O young boy…” Then he drew his attention further by saying:
“I am going to teach you some words”
So that his mind would be prepared and he would realize that what was coming was precious and deserving of attention. Then he conveyed knowledge in brief expressions containing vast meanings—words that establish certainty in the hearts, connect souls to the Lord of the worlds, and teach the human being sincerity in turning to his Lord and complete trust in the management of his Creator. He ﷺ said:
“Be mindful of Allah, and He will protect you. Be mindful of Allah, and you will find Him before you” (al-Tirmidhī).
Reflect, O servants of Allah, on the words of the Prophet ﷺ: “Be mindful of Allah, and He will protect you”—that is, act upon what Allah has commanded you, and guard your limbs from what He has forbidden.
“Indeed, the hearing, the sight, and the heart—each of these will be questioned” (Qurʾān 17:36).
Whoever restrains these from the unlawful and protects them from wrongdoing, Allah will forgive his slips. So be mindful of Allah in your private and public states, in all your times and conditions—He will preserve you in yourself, your family, and your wealth. For He is: خَيْرٌ حَافِظًا وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
“The best of protectors, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy” (Qurʾān 12:64).
Likewise: “Be mindful of Allah, and you will find Him before you”—entails He will support you with His guidance, encompass you with His gentleness, and aid you with His divine enabling. For He says: وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
“And indeed, Allah is with the believers” (Qurʾān 8:19).
Servants of Allah: In a profound prophetic directive, in words that are comprehensive, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“If you ask, then ask Allah” (al-Tirmidhī).
That is, direct your asking to Him alone, and do not call upon other than Him. For supplication is worship, and Allah has commanded that none be worshipped but Him. He says:
“For your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him” (Qurʾān 17:23).
So set your face toward the religion, upright for your Lord, sincere in supplication and hope in your Creator, as He says:
“Set your face toward the religion, upright, and do not be among the polytheists.

“Set your face toward the religion, upright, and do not be among the polytheists.
And do not call upon besides Allah that which neither benefits you nor harms you—if you do so, then you would indeed be among the wrongdoers” (Qurʾān 10:105–106).
Yes—he has wronged himself who places worship in other than its rightful place. How can one seek other than Allah? How can one ask from other than Him, while His treasures are full and His generosity cannot be exhausted? One of the righteous said: “O my Lord, I am amazed at one who knows You—how can he hope in other than You? And I am amazed at one who knows You—how can he seek help from other than You?”
So, turn, O servant of Allah, to Him. Humble yourself before Him. Do not hasten the fruits of your supplication, for there is wisdom in delay. The Prophet ﷺ said:
“There is no believer who turns his face to Allah asking Him for something except that He gives it to him—either granting it to him in this world or storing it for him in the Hereafter—so long as he does not become impatient” saying:
“I supplicated and supplicated, but I do not see a response” (Adab al-Mufrad).
Do not stand at the door of your Lord like one testing and experimenting, but like one certain and filled with great hope. Seek nearness to Him through what He has legislated and call upon Him through His most beautiful Names.
“To Allah belong the most beautiful Names, so call upon Him by them” (Qurʾān 7:180).
And seek help from Him alone, without partner. Have you not heard the saying of the Prophet ﷺ:
“And if you seek help, then seek help from Allah” (al-Tirmidhī)?
How could it be otherwise, when in every rakʿah of our prayer we say:
“You alone we worship, and You alone we seek help from” (Qurʾān 1:5).
O Lord, You are Allah—my sufficiency and my provision; upon You I rely, humbly and in trust. “O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you” (Qurʾān 4:59). I say these words of mine, and I seek forgiveness from Allah for myself and for you—so seek His forgiveness.
The Second Khutbah
All praise is due to Allah alone, and prayers and peace be upon the one after whom there is no prophet.
To proceed: O believers, in this noble hadith the Prophet ﷺ taught us the meanings of gentleness and wisdom in dealing with our children, and the subtle grace of speaking with our young ones, so that we may nourish their hearts with certainty and build within their souls trust in the Lord of the worlds.
The Prophet ﷺ made clear to the young boy the reality of a person’s relationship with his Lord, directing him to rely upon Him alone, then unveiling for him the secret of that reliance and its fruit. Thus he said ﷺ in his counsel to Ibn ʿAbbās, may Allah be pleased with them both:
“Know that if the whole ummah were to gather to benefit you with something, they would not benefit you except with something that Allah has already written for you; and if they were to gather to harm you with something, they would not harm you except with something that Allah has already written against you.”
This is certainty in Allah. None possesses benefit or harm except Him, and none possesses giving or withholding besides Him. If all creation together desired to benefit you with something Allah had not decreed, they would never be able to do so; and if they desired to harm you with something Allah had not written against you, they would never be able to do so.

If all creation together desired to benefit you with something Allah had not decreed, they would never be able to do so; and if they desired to harm you with something Allah had not written against you, they would never be able to do so.
Reflect on the saying of Allah Most High:
“If Allah touches you with harm, none can remove it but He; and if He touches you with good, then He has power over all things.” (Qurʾān 6:17).
And ponder His saying, Mighty and Majestic:
“Is Allah not sufficient for His servant? Yet they frighten you with those besides Him.” (Qurʾān 39:36).
The decree of Allah unfolds as He wills. There is none who can alter His will, none who can repel His command, and none who can overturn His judgment. At the conclusion of his counsel to Ibn ʿAbbās, may Allah be pleased with them both, the Prophet ﷺ said:
“The pens have been lifted and the pages have dried.”
So, glory be to the One in whose hand is the whole affair:
“And to Him the whole affair is returned, so worship Him and rely upon Him.” (Qurʾān 11:123).
Creation is His creation, and governance is His governance. Whoever finds coolness of the eye in Allah, and whose certainty in his Master becomes firmly rooted, his heart is calmed, his breast is expanded, fears become light upon him, obstacles soften before him, and challenges shrink in his sight. This, and may Allah send prayers, peace, and blessings upon our master and Prophet Muḥammad, upon his family, his companions, and the followers; and may Allah be pleased with Abū Bakr, ʿUmar, ʿUthmān, ʿAlī, and all the noble Companions. O Allah, make us believers through You, worshippers devoted to You, trusting in Your generosity, certain of Your support, dutiful to our parents, and have mercy upon them as they raised us when we were young, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
O Allah, grant us wellbeing and pardon us; forgive us and have mercy on us; let us enjoy our hearing and our sight for as long as You keep us alive; and preserve us, our homeland, and our families with Your protection, and encompass us with Your care. O Allah, O Hearer of all voices, O Answerer of supplications, O You whom nothing in the earth or the heavens can frustrate: preserve the Emirates from every direction; preserve its leadership, its people, and those residing upon its land; preserve its land, its sea, and its sky; protect it from the aggression of aggressors, from the evil of enemies and the spiteful, and turn their schemes back upon them, O Lord of the worlds.
O Allah, preserve the brave soldiers of our homeland on land, at sea, and in the air. Make their aim true, make their feet firm, and strengthen their hearts. O Allah, they have exerted their utmost effort and stretched themselves to the limits of their capacity, so grant them abundant reward and recompense, raise their ranks, and grant them victory over Your enemies and theirs. O Allah, be for them a protecting friend and a helper, an aid and a supporter, and shield them from the evil of every possessor of evil whose forelock is in Your grasp. Truly, You are Preserver over all things.
O Allah, preserve Shaykh Muḥammad bin Zāyid, the President of the State, with Your protection; support him with Your victory; prepare right guidance for him in his affairs; be for him a helper and a support, a guide and one who grants success. Illuminate his insight, grant success to his path, make his word and deed upright, bless his life and his work, and make him a key to goodness, a lock against evil, and successful in every matter. O Allah, grant success to him, his deputies, his brothers, the rulers of the Emirates, and his trustworthy Crown Prince, in all that You love and are pleased with.
O Allah, have mercy upon Shaykh Zāyid, Shaykh Rāshid, and the rulers of the Emirates who have passed on to Your mercy. Admit them by Your grace into the vastness of Your gardens, and envelop the martyrs of the homeland in Your mercy and forgiveness.
“If Allah touches you with harm, none can remove it but He; and if He touches you with good, then He has power over all things.” (Qurʾān 6:17).
And ponder His saying, Mighty and Majestic:

O Allah, have mercy upon the Muslim men and Muslim women, the living among them and the dead.
O Allah, make what You have sent down of Your rain a rainfall of mercy and blessing, by which You increase blessings and bring forth abundant good. Servants of Allah, remember Allah, the Magnificent, the Majestic, and He will remember you. Thank Him for His blessings and He will increase you. And establish the prayer.
