Starting today, Telegram is introducing a reward system for content creators, allowing Telegram channel owners to receive 50% of the advertising revenue displayed in their channels.

Rewards for Content Creators

• Owners of public channels with 1,000 or more subscribers can receive 50% of the revenue from ads shown in their channel as a reward.

• Rewards can be withdrawn without any fees, or they can be used to pay for ads on Telegram, purchase collectible addresses, or for Premium subscription giveaways.

• Advertising revenue statistics can be tracked in Channel Settings > Statistics > Monetization.

• Reward withdrawals will become available to channel owners on the Fragment platform in the coming weeks.

Cryptocurrency-based Advertising with TON

• Now any user can promote their bot or channel on Telegram using Toncoin - with minimal budgets.

• When creating an ad message, you choose specific channels for placement - this way, you have full control over the context in which your ads will be shown.

Stablecoin on the TON network

At the Token2049 crypto conference happening on April 19-20 in Dubai, Pavel Durov will be joined by Tether's CEO, Paolo Ardoino.

Any accumulated funds left in the platform's accounts may be canceled at the discretion of Telegram. There is no information available about the timeframe within which the tokens must be withdrawn.

Reduction of Transaction Fees in the TON Network

The TON Foundation has announced a reduction in transaction fees within the network. The initiatives to reduce fees are intended to stimulate a greater number of transactions and support the growth of the TON ecosystem, reinforcing its position in the Web3 sphere.

The following changes are proposed:
• Reduce fees for Jetton-with-Governance transactions: the first transaction will cost 0.02 TON (~$0.14), subsequent ones will be 0.0145 TON (~$0.10).
• Plan to reduce overall transaction fees by threefold: the first transaction will cost ~$0.06, subsequent transactions will cost ~$0.04.

Vulnerability in TON withdrawal with platform advertising

In the smart contract responsible for withdrawing funds accumulated from displaying advertisements, a user discovered a drain bug that allowed them to obtain tokens without any limits and withdraw them to an exchange almost immediately.

A drain bug is a vulnerability in a smart contract that allows an attacker to drain the contract of its funds. This is typically achieved by calling a function within the contract that improperly checks the contract's balance or the caller's permissions.

The owner of one wallet made 55 withdrawals of 256 TON each (totaling $82,000), and approximately $150,000 was withdrawn in total. As a result, the exchange rate dropped by 10 percent—from $6 to $5.45.

Currently, the withdrawal of rewards has been suspended.

Protecting Wallet Assets with Biometrics

@wallet users can now set up a passcode for secure funds transfer. Assets will be protected by encryption and local storage of the code.

To set up the code, you need to open the Wallet settings and select the "Passcode" option. We recommend specifying an email for code recovery.

Activating Touch ID or Face ID will simplify access to protected assets.
