EXCLUSIVE: O’Keefe Uncovers Unalaska Election Officials Contradicting Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s SAVE Act Claims, Telling O’Keefe That Island Residents Do NOT Have to Travel 800 Miles to Anchorage to Register to Vote or Obtain ID

O’Keefe asked an Unalaska local DMV employee, “We don’t have to go to Anchorage to get an ID?” The employee responded, “No, you can come here.”

An Unalaska resident confirmed voting takes place at City Hall and said residents “Don’t have to go to Anchorage [to register to vote or obtain ID].”

After visiting the library, DMV, City Hall, post office, and speaking directly with residents, O’Keefe reported: “Everybody here [Unalaska residents] are contradicting what Lisa Murkowski is saying [Have to travel to Anchorage to register to vote or obtain ID].”

EXCLUSIVE: O’Keefe Uncovers Unalaska Election Officials Contradicting Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s SAVE Act Claims, Telling O’Keefe That Island Residents Do NOT Have to Travel 800 Miles to Anchorage to Register to Vote or Obtain ID O’Keefe asked an Unalaska local…
In Unalaska, Alaska, I went directly to the remote island Sen. Lisa Murkowski cited while raising concerns about the SAVE Act and what its documentary proof-of-citizenship requirements could mean for rural Alaskans.

Murkowski argued that a resident in Unalaska, such as a fisherman or teacher, could have to travel roughly 800 miles to Anchorage to present documentary proof of citizenship.

So I went to Unalaska to find out what residents would actually have to do.

At the local DMV, I asked whether we would have to travel to Anchorage to obtain an ID. The employee told me, “No, you can come here.” When I brought up claims that residents would have to make the trip to Anchorage, the employee responded, “That’s strange.”

At the Unalaska Public Library, an employee confirmed voter registration services are available on the island. The library also provides passport services and directed us to the local DMV for Alaska identification.

We then went to City Hall, where the city clerk confirmed that Unalaska remains a polling location. When I asked whether residents would have to go to Anchorage to vote if the SAVE Act passed, she responded, “No, because we still remain as a polling place here.”

A local resident separately confirmed that voting takes place at City Hall and said residents “don’t have to go to Anchorage.”

We also visited the local post office and spoke with residents and fishermen to document what voter registration, identification, and voting services are actually available in this remote Alaskan community.

After visiting the DMV, library, City Hall, post office, and speaking directly with people on the island, I found the people we interviewed contradicted the claim that Unalaska residents would have to travel 800 miles to Anchorage to register to vote or obtain identification.

Sen. Murkowski’s State Director, Karina Waller, accused a member of OMG of “voter fraud” following our previous Anchorage investigation and said she would include the journalist’s name in a complaint to the Alaska Division of Elections and Department of Law.

OMG went to Unalaska to document firsthand what services are available to rural Alaskans and compare what we found on the ground with what Sen. Murkowski said about the SAVE Act.

We have reached out to Murkowski for comment.

UNDEFEATED: It was early Friday morning that my attorney, Benjamin Barr, called me with the news neither of us will ever forget: we had just overturned the verdict against me in Democracy Partners v. O’Keefe before the hostile D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.

This established undercover reporting as protected by the First Amendment in federal court as a matter of law.

This video captures the moment it sank in. Shock. Emotion. Vindication.

On primary day in Alaska, I was offered Lisa Murkowski's brother’s ballot at an Anchorage polling location with NO ID required!

And now Lisa Murkowski is calling for my prosecution for exposing election vulnerabilities in HER home state of Alaska.

RETRACTO IS BACK: A woman named Lauren Windsor recruited half a dozen plaintiffs to sue me 10 years ago.

Everyone who has sued me has LOST:

AFT v. O’Keefe
Koerber v. O’Keefe (CA Supreme Court )
Democracy Partners v. O’Keefe (DC Circuit Court of Appeals)
Teter v. O’Keefe (Directed verdict )
Wentz v. O’Keefe (Summary judgment)

Some now have to pay me! Lauren Windsor said what we do is legally problematic.

Sorry Lauren Windsor but, federal and state judges have proven you WRONG.

“Mr. O’Keefe does incredible work, the things he’s been able to discover, things other media sources should have discovered years ago, but they’re part of the problem.

The SAVE America Act is a no-brainer”

BREAKING NEWS: DOJ INDICTS HIGHER-UPS IN LA SKID ROW PETITION FRAUD SCHEME EXPOSED BY O’KEEFE

Earlier this year, our LA Skid Row undercover investigation captured people being offered cash to sign petitions and register to vote, including individuals being provided addresses to use on voter registration forms.

Brass (“LORD”) is now in custody. He will appear in the riverside federal court this afternoon for his bond hearing.

Now, according to the DOJ indictment, defendants used a voter database called SIGVALID to obtain the identities of registered California voters, gave those identities to petition signers, and paid them to fraudulently sign petitions in those voters’ names.

Brenda Brown Armstrong, who was featured in our original reporting, has already been charged.
