Narges Mohammadi Started a Hunger Strike

#Narges_Mohammadi started a hunger strike on Monday, November 6th, 2023, to protest the Evin prison officials’ decision to reject sending her to the hospital.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Narges Mohammadi, a political prisoner imprisoned in Evin prison, went on hunger strike to protest the lack of consideration for her demands.

The family of Narges Mohammadi, a human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner who is imprisoned in Evin prison, announced her hunger strike by publishing an article on Instagram and wrote: After a week of Narges’s pursuits from prison’s authorities and her lawyer from the judicial authorities, the prosecutor opposes sending her to hospital until now. According to the diagnosis and echo of the trusted doctor of the prison’s organization, Narges should be sent to the heart and lung center for an emergency since week ago.

Narges Mohammadi Did Not Attend Court; Her Lawyer Defended Her Against Charges of “Propaganda Against the Regime”

On Saturday, June 8, 2024, the trial session for #Narges_Mohammadi, the human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, was held in Branch 29 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court without her presence.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Mostafa Nili, Ms. Mohammadi’s lawyer, announced this news on his personal page, adding that the charges of “propaganda against the regime” were addressed in this session, and he responded to them on her behalf.

Mr. Nili further stated that the allegations against Ms. Mohammadi included her “remarks about Dina Ghalibaf and her opinions on boycotting the parliamentary elections.”
