Just been to visit Sam in prison and thought I’d provide a little update as I get quite a lot of messages asking how he is. We’ve also just reached the two months milestone!

He is looking really well. He’s been working out quite a lot and he’s lost about a stone in weight and also built some muscle.

He’s also just moved up to enhanced status which means we now get 5 visits a month instead of 3 visits a month. To move up to enhanced status you need to collect points and he collected his points by doing well at his job, by completing his arts and crafts course, by helping out in the library, and by stopping another inmate from killing himself (!).

Now he’s enhanced he also gets to choose one electronic device for his cell and he chose a radio because he said he misses music.

He recently read Dune and really loved it so he’s now ordered the next couple of books in the series.

He is still making things with matchsticks and he’s currently working on making me a jewellery box!

He is still getting a lot of letters and emails, so thank you to everybody who continues to write to him 🤍

Our guy Callum Hewitt came 2nd out of 4 in the Central and West Bank local election, beating the Green Party and the Tories!! Labour took the win.

Patriotic Alternative North West

Today, PA NW activist Callum Hewitt was the runner-up in the local elections in the Central & West Bank ward of Halton Borough Council, with Labour winning, the Green Party in third place and the Conservatives last. We are very proud of him, for he has beaten two established parties in his first election.

Not only did Callum manage to achieve a respectable result in the election; because of his campaign, we have several new activists in the region.

The NW Regional Organiser and Callum would like to thank all the region's activists who helped him in his election campaign, all those who gave supportive comments, both online and in-person, and all voters in the Central & West Bank ward who voted for Callum.

We’re not sure of the reason why yet. He’s going to find out more tomorrow. There’s a chance his category might change or he might be losing his “high risk” classification, or it could just be because he was on a remand wing and they need the space so they’ve moved him to his permanent place.

Personally, it’s a bit further for us to travel for visits but luckily he is still in Yorkshire so it could be a lot worse. Sam says he’s been put in a cell with a guy who’s sound so he seems to be ok there. I’m sure he’ll make new friends as he gets on with everybody.
