Two #Hawaii County paramedics responding to the chaos of Tropical Storm Lala ended up having to scramble onto the roof of their own ambulance just to escape rising floodwaters.

Heavy rains and winds were strong enough to sweep around 100 homes off their foundations on the Big Island, officials said. More than 200,000 households were without power. Officials say the tropical storm is predicted to progress west for the next couple of days.

🇺🇸 #Florida mother arrested after her 11-year-old child with autism drove them to a 7-Eleven and crashed into a pole.

41-year-old Carribbean Myers let her 11-year-old child with autism drive from their home to a 7-Eleven convenience store while she supervised from the passenger seat. The Hillsboro County Sheriff's Department says that the child mistook the gas pedal for the brake and smashed into a concrete barrier pole. Deputies learned that Myers has not had a valid driver's license since July 13th and that she had let her underage children drive her around previously.

Police say the Sonata's driver, 32-year-old Laloyd L. Hamilton, did not stop and accelerated to approximately 130 mph as they pursued him. When the chase reached the 28-mile marker, the Trooper performed a PIT maneuver that caused the fleeing vehicle to violently crash into another car carrying a 68-year-old woman and a 73-year-old man.

A search of the suspect’s vehicle resulted in the recovery of narcotics, including illegal marijuana, pills, and an unknown liquid substance.
