Although the Carney government’s promises of economic reform in yesterday’s Throne Speech are weak sauce and will likely be far from enough to save Canada from the disastrous course it is on, we have to acknowledge that they show a radical departure from Trudeau’s insane focus on climate change, wokism, more social programs, and more spending.

The government’s seven priorities are all relevant ones that point in the right direction, even though none of them goes far enough:

1. a new economic and security relationship with the U.S.;

We need one of course, but as I have been saying, we should put everything on the table to make it work, including dairy supply management.

2. removing barriers to interprovincial trade;

That’s been part of the PPc platform since 2018. Glad to see it finally be a government priority!

3. bringing down costs for Canadians;

An obviously important priority but the only way to achieve it is to massively cut government spending and excessive regulations, and stop the Bank of Canada from printing money again as it always does when the economy slows down, or when the global debt crisis hits for real sometime soon. There’s little chance of that, Carney is not as crazy as Trudeau but his two main jobs were as money printer and inflationist-in-chief in Canada and Britain.

4. making housing more affordable;

Another important priority, which would be achieved if the government immediately imposed a moratorium on immigration as the PPC proposed. They will spend billions to build houses instead.

5. protecting Canadian sovereignty by strengthening the armed forces;

Another important priority after years of neglect and woke policies to destroy our armed forces.

6. reducing immigration levels to “sustainable” levels;

Isn’t it amazing that what made me and the PPC the targets of smears only a few years ago is now a priority of a Liberal government?!? Unfortunately the Liberals still believe that hundreds of thousands more immigrants per year is sustainable.

7. and spending less on government operations.

This is absolutely crucial after a decade of massive growth in the size of the government and its bureaucracy under Trudeau.

These priorities are very similar (or perhaps even better) to what a Poilievre government would have proposed.

We’ll see what actually gets accomplished. The car is not racing into the brick wall at an accelerating speed as it was under Trudeau, but at a slower one. I just don’t believe it will make much of a difference in the end. What we need is to radically change direction.

Cela fait partie de la plateforme du PPC depuis 2018. Je suis heureux de voir que c’est enfin une priorité du gouvernement!

3. réduire les coûts pour les Canadiens;

Une priorité évidemment importante, mais la seule façon d’y parvenir est de réduire massivement les dépenses gouvernementales et la réglementation excessive, et d’empêcher la Banque du Canada d’imprimer de l’argent à nouveau comme elle le fait toujours lorsque l’économie ralentit, ou lorsque la crise de la dette mondiale frappera pour de vrai bientôt. Il y a peu de chances que cela se produise, Carney n’est pas aussi fou que Trudeau mais ses deux principaux emplois ont été imprimeur de monnaie et inflationniste en chef au Canada et en Grande-Bretagne.

4. rendre le logement plus abordable;

Une autre priorité importante, qui serait atteinte si le gouvernement imposait immédiatement un moratoire sur l’immigration comme le propose le PPC. Ils vont plutôt dépenser des milliards pour construire des maisons.

5. protéger la souveraineté canadienne en renforçant les forces armées;

Une autre priorité importante après des années de négligence et de politiques wokes pour détruire nos forces armées.

6. réduire les cibles d’immigration à des niveaux « durables »;

N’est-il pas étonnant qu’une proposition qui a fait de moi et du PPC les cibles des calomnies il y a seulement quelques années soit maintenant une priorité d’un gouvernement libéral?!? Malheureusement, les libéraux croient toujours que des centaines de milliers d’immigrants de plus par année sont une cible durable.

7. et dépenser moins pour les opérations gouvernementales.

C’est absolument crucial après une décennie de croissance massive de la taille du gouvernement et de sa bureaucratie sous Trudeau.

Ces priorités sont très semblables (ou peut-être même meilleures) à ce qu’aurait proposé un gouvernement Poilievre.

Nous verrons ce qui sera concrètement accompli. La voiture ne s’enfonce pas dans le mur de briques à une vitesse accélérée comme c’était le cas sous Trudeau, mais à un rythme plus lent. Je ne crois pas que cela fera une grande différence en bout de ligne. Ce dont nous avons besoin, c’est de changer radicalement de direction.

He won't move out of government supplied housing even though he is just a citizen like the rest of us. Andy says it doesn't make sense for him to leave only to move back in after he wins the by-election. How arrogant is that assuming he will win?

A by-election that will cost the taxpayer ~$2 million. A by-election that should not even occur. If the Local CPC winning candidate can't serve for a valid reason other than to create a spot for Pierre, it should automatically go to the runner-up.
