"Our research revealed a number of significant findings about deepfakes. One of these was that the total number of deepfakes online almost doubled over the last 6 months, from 7,964 to 14,678. We further identified that 96% of these deepfake videos were pornographic, and that deepfake pornography is supported by an established network of websites that create and distribute these videos. Another key finding was that all individuals targeted by deepfake pornography were women, and that a third of these women came from non-Western backgrounds".
