JVCEA plans to limit margin trading

The Japan Virtual Currency Exchange Association (JVCEA) plans to impose a limit on how much investors can borrow when marging trading on member exchanges.

Margin trading is the practice of borrowing money from a broker, so that investors can buy and later sell more crypto assets that they can afford. The use of this instrument can yield substantial profits but margin trading is rather risky in volatile cryptocurrency market.

Jiji Press reported on July 24 that the JVCEA plans to place the restriction of borrowing up to 4 times investor’s deposit to protect domestic investors.

JVCEA was formed by Japanese crypto exchanges in response to Coinheck’s hack earlier this year and aims to create self-regulatory environment to prevent regulators from getting involved.

People usually agree to buy a certain coin at the same time which results in pumping the price straight up. Dumping begins when the individuals sell off the asset with a huge profit.
