Terra Collapse

On May 8, UST lost its peg to the dollar and collapsed. LUNA also dropped over 90%.

On May 9, TerraUSD developers provided traders with a $1.5 billion loan to stabilize the stablecoin rate.

On May 11, the UST fell to $0.29. At the moment, the token has corrected to $0.4.

💬 “The only way forward will be to absorb the supply of stablecoins that their holders want to sell before UST can start the reorganization. Naturally, this will be costly for UST and LUNA holders, but we will continue to explore various options to attract more outside capital into the ecosystem and reduce oversupply on UST," wrote Do Kwon, CEO of Terraform Labs.

He said that the reason for what is happening is the mechanics of the stablecoin. Next, he plans to secure the coin as collateral.

Analysts also note that the abolition of the UST peg to the dollar will lead to greater regulation of the crypto industry.
