US Navy SEAL divers spent four months clearing Iranian mines from the Strait of Hormuz, according to the Financial Times.

SEAL divers worked at night from inflatable-hulled boats with help from underwater crafts to remove the mines.

"That is usually followed up by a navy diver who’s got to get in the water and approach the mine, and then put a charge on it and destroy it," said retired US Navy captain Bill Hamblet to the outlet.

"It is an extremely time-consuming process. They are doing, essentially, active bomb detonation underwater," associate fellow at Chatham House Nitya Labh said.

Remarkable.

Nancy Pelosi Disclosed a Multi-Million Dollar AI Investment Just Weeks Before the Stock Blew Up

Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi, disclosed purchases of 15,000 shares of Bloom Energy (BE) plus 200 call options between July 24–28, 2026. The disclosed value was at least $3 million.

Bloom Energy supplies fuel-cell and power systems, and its business is increasingly connected to the enormous electricity demand from AI data centers.

The disclosure was filed August 21, weeks after the transactions.

Bloom subsequently surged, gaining roughly 40% in five days around the period when it was announced that the company would be added to the S&P 500.

Gateway Community Services (for-profit LLC + nonprofit), founded by Abdullahi Ali, got millions in MaineCare (~$5M/year; ~$29M from 2019–2024) and Mills-era no-bid contracts to send “community health outreach workers” door to door in Portland and Lewiston to enroll people—many of them immigrants—in welfare and health programs.

Three state audits found ~$1.6–1.7M in overbilling. DHHS later suspended payments over a “credible allegation of fraud.” A former billing employee alleged fake visits and falsified records. No criminal charges against Ali or the companies as of Sept 2026. Ali has Democratic ties (staff later became legislators / administration aides); the AG still sent the nonprofit $400k after the story broke.

The voter piece: NVRA requires benefit offices to offer voter registration, not auto-enroll everyone on welfare. Maine does auto-register at the BMV. Once you’re on the roll, Maine does not require photo ID at the polls. No proof of citizenship is required to register—only a signed claim that you are a citizen. That combination is the actual vulnerability, not a magic “welfare form = illegal vote” switch.

🚨 Nick Shirley just went on national television and dropped this revelation: The Chinese and Korean Mafia is LOOTING MEDICAID and running a kickback scheme in NYC.

The Operating Model

Enrollment Kickbacks: Operators entice seniors—primarily non-English-speaking immigrants—with cash or supermarket gift cards in exchange for their Medicaid beneficiary numbers.

Ghost and Inflated Billing: Centers bill the state for services never delivered, non-existent attendees, or enrollments that vastly exceed legal building capacities.

Network Billing: Centers partner with clustered local pharmacies and transport providers to bill Medicaid for unneeded prescriptions and transit.

Corroborating Legal Cases

Federal Indictments: Prosecutors charged Inwoo Kim and Daniel Lee in February 2026 for a $120 million scheme involving kickbacks, linked pharmacies, and billing over 1,000 clients in a facility certified for only 81.

Prior Convictions: Eric Zhu was sentenced in 2026 to nearly five years in prison for running a similar $3.2 million kickback and false-billing scheme at a Brooklyn SADC.

Local Saturation: Investigations identified more than 70 SADCs clustered within Flushing, prompting state health officials to refer hundreds of centers for investigation since 2021.

Migrants living in Germany sent around €8.5 billion in remittances abroad in 2025, compared with just over €3.5 billion ten years earlier. More than 61% of the money went to countries outside the European Union, with Turkey remaining the largest recipient. Transfers to countries including India, Afghanistan and Yemen have also increased.

Global remittances channel hundreds of billions of dollars annually from migrant workers to their home countries, serving as an indispensable engine of private cross-border capital. The United States remains the largest single source of outflows globally, generating more than $85 billion annually across both skilled professions and service labor. Gulf nations including the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia contribute nearly $50 billion combined, driven by massive expatriate workforces in construction, energy, and infrastructure. Western European economies—most notably Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and France—drive tens of billions more through historic diaspora ties, humanitarian admissions, and regional labor mobility.

Primary Destination Markets

India: The world's largest recipient, absorbing roughly $120 billion annually from high-skilled tech and medical diaspora in the West, alongside large blue-collar workforces across the Gulf.

Mexico: Receives approximately $60 billion, almost entirely through the US–Mexico corridor, providing essential purchasing power for rural households and local commerce.

China: Captures around $55 billion, increasingly allocated toward eldercare, medical needs, and domestic savings.

The Philippines: Takes in roughly $40 billion, sustained by a globally dispersed network of overseas contract workers in maritime trades, healthcare, and domestic services.

South Asia and North Africa: Nations like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Egypt each receive between $20 billion and $32 billion, anchoring domestic household spending and providing critical foreign exchange liquidity.

Transfer Channels and Impact
Funds transition from earned wages through commercial banks, money transfer operators, and increasingly mobile fintech platforms that reduce intermediary fees and settlement times. At the household level, remittances function as a self-funded social safety net—directly paying for nutrition, basic housing, healthcare, and education. At the macroeconomic scale, these inflows frequently surpass official development assistance and foreign direct investment. In conflict-affected or politically isolated regions such as Afghanistan and Yemen, direct diaspora transfers provide the primary humanitarian lifeline preventing localized economic collapse.
