โ˜„๏ธ๐ŸŒ BREAKING SPACE WATCH: ASTEROID EXPECTED TO PASS INSIDE THE MOON'S ORBIT ON OCTOBER 31, 2026!
๐ŸŒ SpaceTracker.space
SpaceTracker Astronomy Desk | October 27, 2026
๐Ÿ”ญ Earth's cosmic neighbourhood is entering an active observation period, with several known asteroids scheduled to make close approaches between October 28 and November 11.

One encounter stands out.

๐Ÿšจ OCTOBER 31: ASTEROID 2025 UK9

According to published NASA/JPL-derived orbital predictions, asteroid 2025 UK9 is expected to pass approximately 314,648 km from Earth's centre, equivalent to just 0.82 lunar distances.

๐ŸŒ• Average Earthโ€“Moon separation: 384,400 km

โ˜„๏ธ Estimated asteroid size: approximately 4 metres

๐Ÿš€ Relative velocity: approximately 7.8 km/s

๐Ÿ•’ Expected closest approach: October 31 at 02:35 UTC

This makes it the closest encounter identified in our selected two-week approach calendar.

Importantly, this is a predicted flyby, not an expected impact.

๐Ÿ”ญ OCTOBER 28: TWO ASTEROIDS APPROACH EARTH

NASA's Asteroid Watch dashboard identifies two separate encounters:

โ˜„๏ธ 2018 GS1: Estimated diameter near 104 metres, passing approximately 4.24 million km from Earth.

โ˜„๏ธ 2026 UB1: Estimated diameter near 40 metres, passing approximately 3.67 million km away.

Both objects are expected to pass safely beyond the Moon's orbit.

๐ŸŒŒ THE NEXT TWO WEEKS

Additional encounters include:

๐Ÿชจ October 29: 2022 UV21, approximately 5.65 million km

๐Ÿชจ October 30: 2026 UD, approximately 4.47 million km

๐ŸŒ• October 31: 2025 UK9, approximately 315,000 km

๐Ÿช November 2: Zoozve, approximately 6.02 million km

โ˜„๏ธ November 3: 2021 VC4, approximately 2.29 million km

๐Ÿ”ญ November 6: 2001 KF54, approximately 7.24 million km

๐ŸŒ November 10: 2015 VH65, approximately 3.73 million km

โœจ November 11: 2023 VF3, approximately 3.24 million km

๐Ÿง  WHY SCIENTISTS ARE WATCHING

Asteroids are remnants of planetary formation, preserving material that can reveal important information about the early Solar System.

Every close encounter offers opportunities to refine orbital calculations, improve near-Earth object detection and understand how small bodies move through the gravitational environment of our planet.

The closest asteroid is not necessarily the largest, and an asteroid passing nearer than the Moon does not automatically represent a collision hazard.

NASA/JPL continuously updates close-approach predictions as new observations become available.

๐ŸŽฅ SpaceTracker's accompanying visualization features NASA's Eyes on Asteroids simulation, showing Earth, orbital pathways and selected near-Earth objects moving through the Solar System.

The next major date to watch: October 31, 2026.

๐Ÿšจ U.S.โ€“IRAN TENSIONS: 48-HOUR ULTIMATUM AND STRATEGIC AIRCRAFT ACTIVITY
Reports published October 27 say President Donald Trump warned Iran that it had 48 hours to reach a deal or reopen the Strait of Hormuz, threatening severe consequences if the deadline passed. The exact deadline hour in Eastern Time is at 2130.

โœˆ๏ธ Meanwhile, military aircraft are drawing attention. Tracking screenshots show a U.S. Air Force E-4B Nightwatch and a KC-135 tanker operating near Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska.
The E-4B is designed to serve as an airborne command center during a national emergency. The KC-135 provides aerial refueling. Their presence alone does not establish that a strike is imminent.

โš ๏ธ What happens next?
Will diplomacy produce an agreement?
Will the U.S. escalate conventional military operations?
How might Iran respond if hostilities intensify?
Could the conflict expand across the Middle East?

A conventional or supersonic missile attack does not automatically trigger a nuclear response. Any decision to use nuclear weapons would be a separate and extraordinary decision.

French Rafales from the Forces Aรฉriennes Stratรฉgiques (Strategic Air Forces) launched from Saint-Dizier Air Base in northeastern France and flew a simulated nuclear strike mission over the Mediterranean. RAF Typhoons provided defensive counter-air escort. No nuclear weapons were carried or used. The exercise focused on interoperability, coordination of a strike package, and defensive operations around the Rafales.โ€‹

French Armed Forces Minister Catherine Vautrin stated: โ€œHaving independent nuclear forces does not exclude coordination. Our nuclear cooperation with the United Kingdom keeps deepening: on Tuesday night, UK Typhoons participated for the very first time to a French nuclear exercise alongside Rafales. Through coordination, our nuclear forces demonstrate that they can contribute even more significantly to the overall security of the Alliance and to the peace and stability of the Euro Atlantic area.โ€ UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting called it a โ€œnew chapterโ€ in the nuclear defence relationship and a signal that the two countries stand together on European security and credible deterrence.

Ripple and Coinbase have integrated the Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin across Coinbase Prime, Coinbase Exchange, and the Coinbase retail app, providing direct 1:1 USD conversions, multi-chain transfers across the XRP Ledger (XRPL), Base, and Ethereum, and upcoming collateral support on Coinbase Global Exchange.

โ€‹Why This Partnership is Bullish for XRP & the XRP Ledger
โ€‹Direct On-Chain Transaction Volume & XRP Burn
Coinbase enabled native RLUSD deposits and withdrawals directly on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). Because XRPL offers sub-cent fees and 3-to-5-second settlement compared to Ethereum Layer-1 gas costs, retail and institutional users moving RLUSD off-exchange have a strong incentive to route transfers via XRPL. Every RLUSD transfer, trustline creation, and decentralized exchange (DEX) swap on the XRPL requires XRP as the native gas token, permanently burning XRP with every transaction and increasing baseline network utilization.

โ€‹Deepening XRPL AMM & DEX Liquidity
A regulated, tier-1 fiat on/off-ramp directly onto the XRP Ledger via Coinbase removes friction for liquidity providers. Users can convert USD to RLUSD 1:1 on Coinbase and withdraw directly into XRPL's native Automated Market Makers (AMMs) and Central Limit Order Books (CLOB). Deeper XRP/RLUSD liquidity pools tighten spreads, reduce slippage for institutional traders, and make the XRPL more attractive for tokenized Real-World Assets (RWAs).

โ€‹XRP + RLUSD Dual-Asset Payment Routing
Within Rippleโ€™s institutional cross-border payment architecture, RLUSD and XRP act as complementary liquidity rails rather than competitors. While RLUSD provides stability for USD-denominated settlement and treasury operations, XRP serves as the high-velocity bridge asset for exotic currency pairs and on-demand liquidity routing where direct stablecoin corridors lack depth. Expanding RLUSD into Coinbase Prime's institutional custody and execution stack brings more enterprise capital directly onto XRPL rails.

โ€‹Cross-Chain Arbitrage & Base Ecosystem Bridging
Supporting RLUSD simultaneously across XRPL, Coinbaseโ€™s Layer-2 Base, and Ethereum creates continuous cross-chain arbitrage and liquidity routing between Baseโ€™s DeFi protocols and XRPLโ€™s native DEX. As RLUSD becomes eligible for margin and collateral on Coinbase Global Exchange, institutional market makers holding XRP and RLUSD gain seamless collateral mobility across both ecosystems.

The G20โ€™s cross-border payment mandate requires 75% of global transactions to settle within one hour by the end of 2027, while capping average retail transfer fees at 1% or less.

โ€‹Where the Actual Delay Happens
โ€‹Messaging vs. Settlement: SWIFT messaging already reaches most beneficiary banks in under 10 minutes. The multi-day bottleneck occurs in the "last mile" due to closed domestic clearing hours, manual AML compliance checks, and trillions of dollars trapped in pre-funded Nostro/Vostro accounts.

โ€‹How XRP and Ripple Fit the Mandate
โ€‹Instant Liquidity Bridging: XRP settles transactions on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) in 3 to 5 seconds for fractions of a cent, operating 24/7/365. This eliminates the need for banks to pre-fund accounts in exotic or illiquid currency corridors.

โ€‹ISO 20022 Compliance: Rippleโ€™s infrastructure natively supports structured ISO 20022 data, reducing the formatting errors and manual compliance reviews that stall traditional wire transfers.

โ€‹Dual-Asset Ecosystem (XRP + RLUSD): While institutions often prefer regulated stablecoins like RLUSD for major currency corridors to avoid price volatility, XRP remains essential for powering XRPL network fees, automated market maker (AMM) liquidity pools, and bridging high-friction exotic corridors.

โ€ผ๏ธ We are about to witness the largest power outage drill in French history, one that concerns the life and death of the power grid

France is preparing for a nationwide power outage drill of "unprecedented scale." The preparatory meeting is scheduled for November, and the drill itself will take place in early 2027. This is just a drill, with no plans for an actual blackout. But the authorities are no longer treating this scenario as purely theoretical.

This month, the UK has asked every household to be able to hold out for 3 days in the event of disruptions to electricity, water, internet, or other essential services.

On November 2, Japan's Minister for Disaster Management will ask all citizens to stockpile supplies for at least 3 days at home, and up to a week if conditions allow.

The Pentagon's new FORTRESS plan requires every major base on U.S. soil to be able to operate independently for at least 90 days: self-sufficient in electricity, fuel, water, and communications. In addition, they must stockpile fuel, ammunition, spare parts, and medical supplies. The U.S. Army will invest up to $2,200,000,000 in 5 bases to build nuclear microreactors.

Europe has been through this before. On April 28, 2025, Spain and Portugal experienced a nationwide blackout.

This month, hackers heated the freezers in hundreds of French supermarkets to as high as 50ยฐC overnight, causing fires and food spoilage. France is now taking steps to enhance security for similar equipment in sensitive industries.

Then came storms "Austen" and "Borelo." At their peak, 288,600 French households lost power. During the two storms, over 400,000 UK households were left without electricity.

On top of that: cyberattacks targeting critical infrastructure, energy shortages, and various crisis drills.

Basic advice: Be prepared to hold out on your own for 72 hours. No power, no internet, no card payments.

Prepare: water, non-perishable food, common medications, flashlights and batteries, fully charged power banks, battery-powered radios, some cash, photocopies of documents, warm clothing and blankets.

No need for bunkers, no need to panic, and no need to empty out supermarkets.

Once the power grid collapses, everything connected to it will shut down: water supply, internet, card payments. The grid won't weaken graduallyโ€”it will just cut out. That's why current emergency plans cover energy, water supply, communications, cybersecurity, food, medical care, military bases, and your own home.

The UK, Japan, and France are on the same list: Governments of 17 countries and the EU are all calling on people to stockpile supplies at home:
Five of those countries require stockpiling a full week's worth. Germany's requirement goes up to 10 days.

There's no evidence these events are connected. But governments, militaries, and agencies across countries are all doing the same thing at the same time: figuring out how to hold on.

France's General Secretariat for National Defense and Security (SGDSN) has put it in black and white: This drill will test France's preparedness for a "major power outage."

Pentagon chief spokesperson Sean Parnell said: "Electricity is combat power. Without it, you lose communications, water supply, logistics, production lines, even the most basic military command systems."

Hacker attacks, storms, the UK's warnings, Japan's requirements: All happening within about 3 weeks.
And the two biggest things haven't even arrived yet: France's 2027 drill, and the Pentagon's 90-day rule.
