And, I wear it for the thousands who have died,
Believen' that the Lord was on their side,
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died,
Believen' that we all were on their side.

Well, there's things that never will be right I know,
And things need changin' everywhere you go,
But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right,
You'll never see me wear a suit of white.

Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day,
And tell the world that everything's OK,
But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,
'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black.

TO DANCE AGAIN - DANSER ENCORE
English subtitles

Extracts:

And when in the evening on TV
The good king has spoken
Come to announce the sentence
We show irreverence
But always with elegance

Every measure of authority
Every whiff of security
Sees our confidence vanish
They show so much insistence
To confine our conscience

Let's keep them at bay
For our mental health
Our social and environmental well-being
Our smiles, our intelligence
Let's not be without resistance
The instruments of their insanity.

TO DANCE AGAIN - HK
English version

Chorus-
We want to keep dancing, again
See our thoughts embrace our bodies
Spend our lives on a grid of chords
Oh, no no no no no no
We want to keep dancing, again
See our thoughts embrace our bodies
Spend our lives on a grid of chords

We are birds of passage
Never docile nor really wise
We don't pledge allegiance
At dawn in all circumstances
We come to break the silence

And when the evening on TV
The good king has spoken
Came to announce the sentence
We are irreverent
But always with elegance

-Chorus-

Car-metro-work-order
Self-certification that we sign
Absurdity on prescription
And woe to him who thinks
And woe to him who dances

Each authoritarian measure
Every whiff of security
Sees our confidence fly away
They are so insistent
To confine our consciousness

-Chorus-

Let's not be impressionable
By all these unreasonable people
Fear sellers in abundance
Let's know how to keep them at a distance
Anguishing, to the point of indecency

For our mental health
Social and environmental
Our smiles, our intelligence
Let's not be without resistance
The instruments of their insanity

-Chorus-
"The singer of the group HK and the Saltimbanks, Kaddour Hadadi alias HK, is also the author of “Danser encore”, the hymn of the supporters of the reopening of places of cultural activity.

“Not essential”. It is this little phrase, which stuck in Kaddour Hadadi’s throat, which gave birth to this song, which has been seen more than 1.6 million times on YouTube, To dance again. The 44-year-old singer, better known as HK, remembers precisely the night he composed it. “It was at the time of the announcement of the second confinement, I was rehearsing a show in a residence in Avignon with friends and, in fact, our show was canceled because we were not considered essential.” I wrote the song in one go in reaction to that line”, remembers Kaddour Hadadi who confides in having for mantra the slogan of May 68:  “ The action should not be a reaction, but a creation .”

We are social beings and we need to come together, to dance, to sing”, continues Kaddour Hadadi, for whom “generalized malaise” is no less important than the pandemic. For HK, “to heal the body while neglecting the heart” has no sense.

"Kaddour Hadadi (HK) is a French author and singer born to Algerian immigrant parents in the Northern French town of Roubaix on September 6th, 1976.
From 2005 to 2009 he was one of the two singers of Ministere des Affaires Populaires, an eclectic rap group from the town of Lille with a repertoire of accordion, working-class rap, rai (a form of Arab folk music), and ch’ti (the dialect spoken in Northern France). The group has been described as “rap-musette”: a reference to its blend of hip-hop with traditional French accordion music.

In 2006 Hadadi decided to form a new group, HK et les Saltimbanks (‘saltimbanque’ being the French word for ‘acrobat’), also in Lille. This time the music leaned more towards blues and chaabi (Arab-Andalusian music featuring, among other things, mandolin, banjo, tambourine, flute, violin and piano). But the most important departure was its political stance, with lyrics frankly targeting what Hadadi sees as society’s gross blemishes: social exclusion; blatant consumerism; racial prejudice, and the plight of the homeless.

"It’s as if Jacques Brel, Georges Brassens, Renaud, Edith Piaf, Boris Vian, Leo Ferre and Claude Nougaro had gathered for the evening in Algiers"

We’ve got to opt out, disconnect, and open up to others a bit. I want to feel we are on the same wavelength: positive, rebellious and free.)
He has given away his television set.

God Help Us All (Official Music Video) by Five Times August https://youtu.be/6z1ZpYcyku4

Lock down all towns
Everybody slow down
Give ‘em everything you have
Mask up, vax up
Get your body trashed up
Better do what they ask

It’s alright, okay
Sorry, but ya can’t pray
Gotta keep the church doors closed
No superstitions
A saint politician
Will tell ya what you need to know

Citizen fools
And brand new rules
Make everyone a hero now
So keep your distance
No resistance
Only do what you’re allowed

Cash that check
Go dance in the wreck
But just don’t speak your mind
Get your facts from the paid contracts
‘Cause never would they tell a lie

They don’t know me
And they don’t own me

Oh God help us all
Look what we’ve become
Oh God help us all
And fix what we have done

See no evil
Bow to the needle
Didn’t we turn out great?
Sick is the new health
Poor is the new wealth
Truth is whatever they say

Expert lectures
Media protectors
Tell me who to love and hate
Jail in the network
Hail to the Zuck-burg
Head down, just behave

Liberty, freedom, angels, demons
Someone’s in control
(Well) no way, no how
I wouldn’t say it too loud
Don’t you know they’re on patrol?

Need more likes
Post up, let’s fight
There’s no way that you’re wrong
Gott listen to the science
‘Cause it’s all about compliance
You agree or you’re gone

They don’t know me
And they don’t own me

Oh God help us all
Look what we’ve become
Oh God help us all
And fix what we have done

Sell my info
Hacked in, don’t know
Show me what I need to buy
Sex consumption, no corruption
Just as advertised

You’ve been labeled
And I’ve enabled
Better apologize
Propaganda
Racist slander
Time to organize

Shot, bang, who’s next?
Brain dead, useless
Show it on the TV screen
Tell me who to vote for
Gotta to start a new war
Wouldn’t want to live in peace

Divide and Conquer
Weak, not stronger
Everybody know your place
Do it now, won’t hurt
Dig into your own dirt
Virtue found it’s grave

They don’t know me
And they don’t own me

Oh God help us all
Look what we’ve become
Oh God help us all
And fix what we have done

Incite violence
Enforce silence
Mainstream message
Won’t you guide us?
You know what is best
For our own good

Anti-this and anti-that
Cancel this and cancel that
Take it to the streets
And the neighborhoods

Worship actors
Food and drugs
Brand yourself
Give them your blood
Don’t believe your eyes
Don’t look around

Fake news, rumors,
Ok boomer
Ignorance will stain our future
Will ya make it through
Or burn it down?

Oh God!
Oh God!
Help us all
Oh God!
Help us all

Oh God!
Oh God!
Help us all
Oh God!
Help us all

Oh God!
Oh God!
Help us all
Oh God!
Help us all
