At a recent “Christians United for Israel” (CUFI) conference, Pastor John Hagee declared that “the people of Israel are above all people on earth — including the USA.”

Hagee, founder of the powerful CUFI lobby and a longtime ally of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has been a leading voice in the Christian Zionist movement, which teaches that supporting Israel is a divine mandate for Christians.

His comments sparked backlash from faith leaders and rights advocates who say such rhetoric elevates nationalism and religious supremacy under the guise of theology — and further entrenches U.S. political support for Israel’s occupation.

Hagee’s group, CUFI, claims over 10 million members and wields enormous influence in Washington, particularly among Republican lawmakers and evangelical voters.

In a new interview with Tucker Carlson, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene said she’s facing backlash from pro-Israel lobbies for opposing U.S. military funding to Israel.

“Israel can’t silence me. They can try to primary me, smear me, or take me out. I’ll never back down. I didn’t run for Congress to fight for Israel — I ran to fight for the American people.”

Greene said she’s introduced amendments to strip billions in U.S. aid not only to Israel, but also to Ukraine and Egypt, arguing that “foreign wars and handouts” are draining American taxpayers.

The remarks come amid growing tensions between Washington lawmakers over U.S. military aid to Israel during it's genocide in Gaza.
