"Speaking to Vocal Politics, Iranian legal scholar Dr. Helyeh Doutaghi (@Helyeh_Doutaghi) discusses her participation in one of the largest labor protests in post-revolution Iran, held on December 9, 2025, which saw thousands of workers calling for their legitimate rights.
Dr. Doutaghi recalled that after the United States government issued statement 'supporting' the protests—coinciding with several failed attempts by US- and Zionist-funded media outlets to appropriate and hijack the movement—the organizers released a firm statement rejecting 'the support of a government complicit in genocidal violence and dispossession,' adding: 'Do not appropriate our voices.'
She further analyzed the event in a recent article published by Progressive International @ProgIntl, titled 'Iran’s Indigenous Labor Movement and Working Class Sovereignty.'"
