My personal highlight of Saturday was meeting Lozza's dad James Fox. He gave up being an acting legend in the 60s to find God. He was about half a century ahead of us. James's advice to Lozza is: "If you're going to take on a struggle of this magnitude you're going to need spiritual support." I believe he's totally right. 'God is our hope and strength, a very present help in trouble,' as one of the Psalms I used to croak very reluctantly at my Colditz-like prep school used to put it. Turns out the psalm was right and all that Christian grounding wasn't wasted after all.

Those pictures of funeral pyres in India are common place. Tourists even pay $10 each to go and watch!
I was in the himalayas in 2013 when the monsoon season started early and thousands of people were killed in the flooding. Rescue helicopters came loaded with timber that was used to build huge pyres for the dead, before rescuing the survivors.
The images being used by the media are purely for shock and fear value, I wouldn't be surprised if they are even library images of old funerals.

FACE MASKS AS THE PORTABLE VERSION OF SICK BUILDING SYNDROME or SBS.
"The fact that prolonged exposure to latently elevated CO2 levels and
unfavorable breathing air compositions has disease-promoting effects
was recognized early on. As early as 1983, the WHO described “Sick
Building Syndrome” (SBS) as a condition in which people living indoors
experienced acute disease-relevant effects that increased with time of
their stay, without specific causes or diseases [161,162]. The syndrome
affects people who spend most of their time indoors, often with
subliminally elevated CO2 levels, and are prone to symptoms such as
increased heart rate, rise in blood pressure, headaches, fatigue and
difficulty concentrating [38,162]. Some of the complaints described in
the mask studies we found (Figure 2) are surprisingly similar to those
of Sick Building Syndrome [161]. Temperature, carbon dioxide content of
the air, headaches, dizziness, drowsiness and itching also play a role
in Sick Building Syndrome. On the one hand, masks could themselves be
responsible for effects such as those described for Sick Building
Syndrome when used for a longer period of time. On the other hand, they
could additionally intensify these effects when worn in air-conditioned
buildings, especially when masks are mandatory indoors. Nevertheless,
there was a tendency towards higher systolic blood pressure values in
mask wearers in some studies [21,31,34], but statistical significance
was only found in two studies [25,35]. However, we found more relevant
and significant evidence of heart rate increase, headache, fatigue and
concentration problems associated with mask wearers (Figure 2)
indicating the clinical relevance of wearing masks."

Is a Mask That Covers the Mouth and Nose Free from Undesirable Side Effects in Everyday Use and Free of Potential Hazards?
Many countries introduced the requirement to wear masks in public spaces for containing SARS-CoV-2 making it commonplace in 2020. Up until now, there has been no comprehensive investigation as to the adverse health effects masks can cause. The aim was to…

COVID ANXIETY SYNDROME
"A brief new measure to assess COVID-19 anxiety syndrome features is presented.
•
The measure has acceptable levels of reliability and concurrent validity.
•
The measure was found to predict COVID-19 anxiety and work and social adjustment controlling for other variables."

The COVID-19 anxiety syndrome scale: Development and psychometric properties
The central aim of our study was to widen the mental health response to the COVID-19 pandemic by developing and evaluating a measure that could be used to identify the presence of anxiety syndrome features associated with COVID-19. In Study 1, a community…

Therapeutic efficacy of macrolides in management of patients with mild COVID-19

The overall results revealed significant early improvement of symptoms (fever, dyspnea and cough) in patients treated with either azithromycin or clarithromycin compared to control group, also there was significant early conversion of SARS-CoV-2 PCR to negative in patients treated with either azithromycin or clarithromycin compared to control group (p˂0.05 for all). There was no significant difference in time to improvement of fever, cough, dyspnea, anosmia, GIT symptoms and time to PCR negative conversion between patients treated with azithromycin compared to patients treated with clarithromycin (p˃0.05 for all). Follow up chest CT done after 2 weeks of start of treatment showed significant improvement in patients treated with either azithromycin or clarithromycin compared to control group (p˂0.05 for all).Adding Clarithromycin or Azithromycin to the therapeutic protocols for COVID-19 could be beneficial for early control of fever and early PCR negative conversion in Mild COVID-19"

Therapeutic efficacy of macrolides in management of patients with mild COVID-19
Evidence on the efficacy of adding macrolides (azithromycin or clarithromycin) to the treatment regimen for COVID-19 is limited. We testify whether adding azithromycin or clarithromycin to a standard of care regimen was superior to standard of supportive…
