All of us pushing on the truth that the one Login platform is digital ID have finally moved the narrative

This is the summary of "news" on X. There is still a falsehood in this summary because it's not voluntary. Some applications have to go through the one Login system. For instance a basic DBS check

I'm still pleased that at least the Overton window has shifted from a future Britcard to one Login which is now acknowledged as being both digital ID and being here right now

The next task is to get people to commit to not using the one Login service

If you were part of shifting the narrative on this, give yourself a high five. After committing to two weeks of intense push on this I'm exhausted and didn't know if we would get there

He's right. And there's even more Acts etc. I went back 100 years yesterday & mapped it out. We already have digital ID

As I see it, one Login is the platform that synthesises it all through a central state owned share point, which then proliferates sharing of data to corp partners & allows you to be shut off at will. Whether by a code to reauthenticate each time or by gov wallet (poss even a separate Britcard too) one Login is just the gateway that's been rolled out to capture it all centrally

People think of digital ID as a stand alone thing. A card or an app. It's not. It's everything that we do every day by verification, face scan, fingerprint log on, anti money laundering verification etc etc

The proliferation of legislation about all these things including things like the Children's Wellbeing Bill & the Ecomnic Crime & Corp Transparency Act merely widen the scope of control & corporate access to data

Subject: Submission to the Joint Committee on Human Rights — Compulsory Digital Identity and Constitutional Compatibility


Dear Committee Clerk,

I wish to make a written submission for the Committee’s consideration regarding the human rights and constitutional implications of a compulsory Digital Identity scheme currently being discussed within Government.

I write as a British citizen, resident in Cornwall, with a deep respect for the principles that have guided this country’s legal order for centuries. My concern is that a universal, mandatory biometric register—by which every person must continually prove their identity to the state—would represent a profound departure from the constitutional presumption of liberty that underpins the English rule of law.

Our constitution has never required subjects to prove innocence by default. From Magna Carta (1215) through the Bill of Rights (1689) to the Human Rights Act (1998), the guiding assumption has been that freedom is the rule, and restraint the exception. A compulsory digital identity framework reverses this order, introducing a culture of verification rather than trust.

I ask the Committee to consider whether such a system would be compatible with:

1. Article 8 ECHR – protection of private life and informational autonomy;


2. Article 14 ECHR – non-discrimination, given digital exclusion of older, disabled and disadvantaged citizens;


3. The Equality Act 2010, particularly indirect discrimination under s.19;


4. The UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, in respect of data minimisation, consent, and proportionality; and


5. The Protection of Freedoms Act 2012, enacted to prevent indiscriminate retention of biometric data.



The Committee may also wish to examine the wider implications of interoperability with international digital identity systems promoted by global institutions, and whether such integration could erode Parliament’s independent authority over the data and liberties of British citizens.

The issue is not technological convenience but constitutional continuity. Once the state assumes ownership of citizens’ biometric identifiers, the relationship between governed and governor subtly but decisively changes. I believe this would amount to a constitutional rupture—substituting administrative control for the presumption of liberty on which this country’s governance has long rested.

I therefore urge the Joint Committee to open a short inquiry or evidence session to examine whether any proposed Digital Identity Bill or related policy meets the standards of legality, necessity, and proportionality required by the Human Rights Act and the long traditions of the English constitution.
