6. Many more people die of cold than heat, meaning that any warming is a net positive for saving human lives.

Did you know that in Italy, the 1960s economic boom ended in 1973, when Italians, as a result of the Yom Kippur war were asked to enter "austerity" & stop driving cars in week-ends, "to save energy" for Israel, at the time it was presented as an "Oil Crisis". The other option of course was increase the gas imports from Russia, which would have prolonged the boom and made Italians richer. However, even momentarily accepting higher oil prices would have also made Israel's enemies richer, so Italians were told to drive bicycles instead. Does any of this sound familiar at all?

New study: PCR tests significantly overestimated actual infections.

"The result: only around 14 per cent - possibly even just 10 per cent - of the people who tested positive were actually infected with SARS-CoV-2, as shown by antibody detection (IgG). The researchers also show that by the end of 2021, over 90 per cent of the population had already had at least one contact with the virus - a figure that is confirmed by the RKI's antibody detections.

On the one hand, the study shows that the equation "positive PCR test = infection" is not scientifically tenable. Nevertheless, it was precisely this equation that became the basis for far-reaching political decisions. The results appear at a time when the Bundestag's Committee of Inquiry into the pandemic has begun its work. They also stand in stark contrast to recent statements, such as those made by Christian Drosten in the Saxon committee of enquiry, according to which every positive PCR test is synonymous with an infection. Particularly explosive: The Infection Protection Act (§22a IfsG) stipulated during the pandemic that only a positive PCR test is considered proof of infection or recovery. Antibody tests that could actually detect an infection were expressly excluded.

Secondly, the scientists criticise the anchoring of the "seven-day incidence" in the Infection Protection Act (§28a IfsG) as a basis for drastic interventions in fundamental rights. "This measure depends solely on the number of tests carried out and is therefore not an objective indicator of the incidence of infection," says Michael Günther from the University of Stuttgart, the lead author of the study. Co-author Robert Rockenfeller from the University of Koblenz adds: "The jump from half a million to two and a half million tests per week creates a five-fold increase in incidence simply due to the varying number - without the actual incidence of infection having to change".

President John F. Kennedy was deeply concerned about Israel's nuclear program and the Dimona reactor, which was constructed with French assistance starting in 1958. The U.S. government, including Kennedy, viewed the reactor as potentially capable of producing weapons-grade plutonium, with intelligence estimates suggesting it could produce enough for one or two nuclear weapons per year by the mid-1960s.

Kennedy's concerns intensified after the reactor's existence was confirmed shortly before he took office in January 1961, and he made the issue a priority early in his presidency.

Kennedy sought to ensure that the Dimona facility was used solely for peaceful purposes and insisted on regular U.S. inspections to verify this. In April 1963, he formally demanded that Israel allow bi-annual American visits to Dimona, warning that U.S. support for Israel could be "seriously jeopardized" if reliable information on the facility's activities could not be obtained.

This demand was unprecedented, as the U.S. had not been involved in building Dimona, and no international law had been violated. Kennedy's approach was described as a near ultimatum, reflecting his determination to prevent nuclear proliferation in the Middle East.

The Israeli leadership, including Prime Ministers David Ben-Gurion and Levi Eshkol, resisted these demands. Ben-Gurion initially evaded a direct confrontation, attempting to divert attention from the issue. Eshkol, who succeeded Ben-Gurion, took seven weeks to respond, engaging in tense internal consultations before reluctantly agreeing to the inspections. Despite this, the inspections were widely seen as a charade, with U.S. officials acknowledging they were not rigorously conducted and were designed more to maintain appearances than to uncover the truth. The first inspection in 1961, for example, was arranged outside regular governmental channels and involved a guided tour that found no evidence of weapons-related activity, despite U.S. intelligence believing Israel was developing nuclear weapons.

Kennedy's efforts were part of a broader concern about nuclear proliferation, which he viewed as a major challenge to American power and global stability.

The issue was eventually resolved through a compromise, or some argue through Kennedy's assassination, with the U.S. accepting inspections that were largely symbolic, allowing Israel to proceed with its nuclear program. This arrangement continued under President Lyndon Johnson, who, unlike Kennedy, preferred compromise over confrontation and effectively accepted Israel's nuclear capability.

As Solzhenitsyn said, the mark of a courageous man is not to take part in the lie. But we must go further. We must participate in the truth. We must speak the truth, at all times, in all situations.

A humble weed may hold surprising power. Scientists have found that dandelion root extract can kill more than 90% of colon cancer cells in lab tests within just 48 hours. The extract triggers apoptosis — the body’s built-in system for programmed cell death — by activating multiple pathways at once and overwhelming the cancer cells.

Even more striking, it worked on cancer cells missing a functional p53 gene, a mutation that often makes tumors resistant to treatment. In animal studies, the extract also shrank tumors in mice without harming healthy tissues — something traditional chemotherapy rarely achieves.

This selective, low-toxicity effect is what makes dandelion root extract so promising. Instead of damaging both healthy and cancerous cells, early results suggest it targets only the dangerous ones. Researchers think this comes from its ability to activate both caspase-dependent and caspase-independent death signals, two major systems the body uses to clear harmful cells.

While the research is still in early stages and human trials are needed, the findings highlight just how much therapeutic potential may be hiding in everyday plants.
