"Day 1 summary so far (session adjourned)

Chaos in proceedings:

2 nurse witnesses for the Royal Trinity Hospice (RTH) refusing to come back to court for cross examination by Dimmock family barrister, James Bogle KC, and a third witness apparently still not in attendance but not confirmed as absent (?).

Coroner tells Bogle that he has to submit written questions or face inquest adjournment.

Then say that these would not be a (cross) “examination” but a clarification, and that he could only submit 20 written questions (!) to them, and they will reply, while not having to attend (!).

Coroner’s forced bogle to summarise all his prepared cross examination for both missing witnesses into only (his suggested) 20 written questions, and for the RTH nurse witnesses to only send written answers back, and not appear in person!

Coroner only gave Bogle under 2 hours to do all that in (ie: pick around 20 questions from his originally intended prepared live cross examination), or risk the entire inquest being postponed again (coroner threatened by saying that he really doesn’t want to do it, hint hint).

Bogle argued with the coroner, RTH barrister Wright-Klugar argued with Bogle, then they both argued with Bogle, who repeatedly protested, but the coroner strictly over ruled Bogle.
Session adjourned!

It was an ambush. High drama!"
