Temporary measures have a way of hanging around since the first “two-weeks-to-flatten-the-curve” measures in March 2020. We have gone from distancing with masking if distancing was not possible, to distancing and masking while awaiting the vaccines, to distancing and masking and mass vaccination. So scepticism that vaccine mandates and accompanying proofs will be temporary is not without foundation...

"How high shall that rate go? If 75 per cent is not good enough, will 85 per cent be, or 95 per cent, or 120 per cent? That last figure is not a joke; massive recourse to booster shots — already being proposed — is basically aiming at 150 per cent or 175 per cent vaccination rates. "The B.C. government says it's seeing a massive increase in interest in the COVID-19 vaccine since announcing a new program to require proof of vaccination for a wide range of social and recreational activities.

Since Monday, the number of people registering for the vaccination program or booking appointments each day has jumped by as much as 201 per cent compared to a week earlier, according to a statement from the province.
