Telegram for macOS can save self-destructing messages
Trustwave experts have found that Telegram for macOS allows to save self-destructing messages from secret chats.
This issue was fixed in Telegram for macOS 7.7 (215786), after the researchers reported vulnerability to the developers. However, experts have found an additional error that also allows you to save self-destructing media.
The Telegram developers informed the researchers that the second error will not be fixed, since it is impossible to protect yourself from direct access to the application folder.
"Please note that the primary purpose of the self-destruct timer is to serve as a simple way to auto-delete individual messages. However, there are some ways to work around it that are outside what the Telegram app can control (like copying the app’s folder), and we clearly warn users about such circumstances " the developers said.
The researchers disagree with this explanation. In their opinion, Telegram can fix the error, for example, by processing all self-destructing media in the same way as attachments, that is, not uploading them to the local file system until they are opened.

🎉 Telegram turns 8 years old today!
On August 14th, 2013, an official iOS client appeared, which marked the beginning of the project. A few weeks later, the competitive version of Telegram for Android.
Over the past year, Telegram has introduced many new features, including group audio and video calls, importing messages from other messengers, automatically deleting messages, comments for channels (without bots), and much more.
Currently, the version of mobile clients is 7.9.3 for Android and 7.9.2 for iOS.

Telegram Connectivity Issues in Uzbekistan
During 20 minutes starting from 15:40 UTC, Telegram users from Uzbekistan were facing connectivity issues with the messenger. Besides Telegram, other social networks were affected too.
There's a probability Uzbekistan is testing their DPI right now and that the messenger may be blocked in future. We recommend to prepare yourself by adding our proxy.
We will keep watching on the situation and will post more news related to Telegram in Uzbekistan on @tginfouzb.

In Telegram for macOS Beta, users can remove the sender's name in the forwarded message. To do this, users need to click on the cross, after selecting the chat to forward a message.

What's new:
— After you reach the end of a channel, an extra swipe will open next unread channel. Currently it's unknown what name will be assigned to the feature.
— Record video in voice chats in either horizontal or vertical orientation.
— Trending packs in the sticker chooser pane.
— An option to forward messages without specifying the author of the original message.
— (Not sure yet) animated gradient for message bubbles, just like background one.

Group Video Call with unlimited viewers
Today, at 14:00 UTC, Telegram will start a group video call with unlimited viewers in testing channel.
The Telegram Team recommends you to take part in testing video calls using the Telegram Beta apps for Android 8.0+ and iOS 8.0+ (including iOS TestFlight).
Currently, Telegram for iOS Beta has not been released yet.
UPD: The test will take part 30 minutes later, at 14:30 UTC.

India, Russia, and Indonesia are the countries Telegram is most downloaded in, with 22, 10, and 8 percents of downloads accordingly.
“The app’s installs accelerated in 2021, reaching about 214.7 million installs in the first half of 2021, up 61% year-over-year from 133 million in H1 2020”, — they added.
It’s important to know that install count doesn’t reflect active users number.
