Reactions to messages, spoilers and more in Telegram for iOS

In Telegram for iOS 8.4 Beta, the following features are available and expected in future update:

— Reaction on messages
Users can leave one of the 11 available reactions. You can also get quick reactions by double-clicking on a message.

— Formatting text to hide information
Spoilers allows you to hide the text under the noise animation. Clicking allows you to see the hidden information.

— Message Translator
Thanks to the new iOS 15 feature, you can translate any highlighted text.

— Updated QR Codes
Anyone can generate QR codes for public and private links of groups and channels.

— Snow in Telegram
To enable it, you need to make 7-10 clicks on the gear, and turn on the "Snow" item.

Reactions, spoilers, translation and QR codes

Telegram for Android, iOS, macOS and Unigram has been updated to version 8.4, Telegram Desktop — to version 3.4.

Reactions
• Double tap a message to send a quick 👍🏻 reaction.
• Press and hold a message for more reactions.
• Change your quick reaction emoji in Settings > Stickers and Emoji.
• Group and Channel admins can enable reactions in their chat via Chat Info > Edit > Reactions.

Spoilers
• Select text when typing and choose 'Spoiler' formatting to hide some or all of the contents of a message.
• Tap the spoiler animation in chat to reveal its hidden text.
• Spoiler formatting hides text in chat, as well as in the chat list and notifications.

Translation
• Turn on the Translation option in Settings > Languages.
• Press and hold a message to translate it into another language.

QR Codes
• Generate a custom QR Code that leads to your public t.me link.
• Tap the QR code icon in public profiles for groups, bots and channels to let someone quickly scan it with their device.

Telegram for Android, iOS, macOS and Unigram has been updated to version 8.5, Telegram Desktop — to version 3.5.

Video Stickers
• Use a new type of detailed stickers with smooth animations.
• Create new sets by sending .webm videos to @stickers.
• Bring your custom animated stickers from other apps.

Better Reactions
• See smaller, compact animations when reacting to messages.
• See real-time animations in chat when a user reacts to your message.
• React with additional emoji expressing love, appreciation, anger or surprise.

Read Status for Reactions
• Tap the new button in chats to jump to your messages that have unseen reactions.
• Watch the animations for unseen reactions play when you hit the button.

• The app will warn you before closing if you are uploading photos or files to a chat.
• Enjoy better screencast quality in video chats.

Download⁠ Manager, Live Streaming With Other Apps, New Attachment Menu

Telegram for Android, iOS, macOS and Unigram has been updated to version 8.6, Telegram Desktop — to version 3.6.

Download Manager
• The Search screen has a new Downloads tab where you can see all currently and recently downloaded media and files (Desktop: Settings > Advanced > Downloads).
• While files are actively downloading, a new icon will now appear in the Search bar or in the app header.
• In the Downloads menu, you can pause and restart downloads, change priority, or quickly go to a dialog where a specific file from the list has been sent.

Live Streaming With Other Apps
• You can broadcast from streaming tools like OBS Studio and XSplit Broadcaster.
• Tools allow you to add overlays and multi-screen layouts with ease, turning any Telegram channel into a professional TV Station.
• To stream from these tools, start a new Video Chat in your group or a new Live Stream in your channel, tap the «Start With» button and enter the information found there into your streaming tool.
• Your viewers will need to update their apps to the latest version to watch your stream.

New Attachment Menu
• When sending multiple photos or videos, tap Selected at the top of the panel to preview how the album will look in the chat when it’s sent — and rearrange or remove selected media.
• The attachment menu has been fully redesigned on iOS.
• The updated Files tab shows recently sent files and lets you search for them by name.

Phone Number Links
• This update allows you to share a direct t.me link to your phone number that instantly opens a chat with you.
• The link will only work if your privacy settings let others find you by your phone number.
• The format for these links is t.me/+123456789, with the full phone number in international format.

• New authorization interface with smooth animations (Telegram for Android and macOS).
• New on-screen animations for logging in via QR code (Telegram for macOS).

Bot Revolution
• Developers are given the tools to create infinitely flexible interfaces with JavaScript.
• Next-generation Telegram bots can completely replace any website.
• These interfaces can be programmed to match a user’s theme – adjusting color schemes in real time, for example when switching between Day and Night modes or setting custom themes.

Custom Notification Sounds
• You can now turn any sound into a notification tone.
• Telegram tones are cross-platform and completely free.
• You can set a notification sound for an individual chat or for all chats of the desired type (personal chats, channels, groups).
• Tap a short audio file or voice message in chat to instantly add it to your list of notification sounds, which you can assign to any chats.
• Tones currently support audio files and voice messages under 5 seconds up to 300 KB in size.
• Try some samples made by Telegram team (and their pets) in the Notification Sounds channel.
• You can access your sounds on all your devices via Settings > Notifications and Sounds.

Custom Mute Durations
• Now you can also pause notifications for a specific duration.
