⚡️Syrian parliament member Hassan Soufan:
“Daraa is not a punching bag for anyone seeking to respond to the attack that targeted the church in Karak. The blood of our children and women is precious to us, just as the blood of the innocent people killed in the church is precious. Innocent people must not pay the price for crimes they did not commit.
The timing is extremely sensitive, on the eve of the Israeli elections, and uncontrolled reactions could open the door to escalation that would benefit the Israeli occupation. What we need most is wisdom and careful consideration of the consequences.
The Syrian government has announced that the airstrikes took place without prior coordination with it and that it has begun an investigation and communication with the Jordanian side. We trust that it will continue taking the necessary measures to preserve the country’s sovereignty, protect the rights of the victims, and prevent these attacks from happening again.
Unity of word and ranks, preserving our security, denying pretexts to those plotting against our country, and supporting the Syrian state in addressing this attack are the most important things we must uphold at this sensitive stage.”
