Extremist minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s storming of the cells of Palestinian female captives and turning their suffering into a show in front of the cameras reflects the level of fascism and political and moral degradation, and exposes the terrorist and vengeful mentality governing the occupation and its leaders.
We warn of the danger of continuing to turn Israeli prisons into open arenas for violations, humiliation, threats, torture, and killing, while occupation leaders exploit the suffering of our male and female captives as cheap electoral propaganda.
We stress that these crimes require effective action at all levels to support their cause and end their suffering.
The failure of the international community, UN institutions, and human rights organizations to hold the occupation accountable and pursue its leaders has encouraged these violations to continue and become a daily practice. Statements of concern and condemnation are not enough.
We call on our people, national and Muslim movements, human rights and media organizations, and free people around the world to raise the issue of Palestinian male and female captives to the highest levels.
