The Israeli Civil Administration posted signs prohibiting Palestinians from accessing lands near the al-Muntar Bedouin community and the al-Sawahra wilderness, east of Jerusalem, claiming they are “state lands.”
Around 112 Palestinian families live in al-Muntar, which has a school serving the community and surrounding areas. The signs were placed near routes used by residents, the school, and the community.

What is happening on Arabic-language TV channels these days? (1/2)
What is happening is genuinely astonishing.
Listening to many of their commentators and analysts discussing Iran, you could be forgiven for thinking you are watching a broadcast from Washington rather than from Middle Eastern capitals. Iran is supposedly on the verge of economic collapse, its government is supposedly about to surrender, and its defeat is presented as merely a matter of time.
But where is the evidence?
Six months after the United States and Israel launched their war, Iran has not collapsed. Its political system remains in place. Its capacity to fight remains intact. And, most importantly, Washington has still failed to achieve any meaningful resolution of the strategic dilemma it faces, let alone the decisive victory it promised.
Look at the Strait of Hormuz. It exposes the disconnect between the narrative and reality.
The United States has spent months trying to restore normal shipping through the Strait. It entered into the June 17 memorandum with Iran precisely because Hormuz had become an enormous strategic and economic problem. The agreement reportedly included provisions for reopening the Strait and lifting the American naval blockade. Yet the agreement collapsed, and Washington has struggled ever since to find a way out of the deadlock.
Iran, meanwhile, has neither capitulated nor accepted Washington’s terms. It has maintained its conditions for the full reopening of Hormuz.
And what is the response on these Arabic-language channels?
Instead of asking the obvious question, if Iran is supposedly on the verge of collapse, why has the United States been unable to force Tehran to surrender, and why is Washington still struggling to find a solution to Hormuz?, we are repeatedly presented with panels of “experts,” from the Arab world and beyond, explaining why Iran is supposedly about to collapse.
Iranian voices offering a different assessment are few and far between compared with the multitude of commentators advancing essentially the same narrative.
This is not serious strategic analysis.
There is nothing wrong with arguing that Iran faces severe economic pressures. Of course it does. There is nothing wrong with discussing its military losses, internal weaknesses, or political vulnerabilities. These are all legitimate subjects of analysis.
But turning every difficulty into a prediction, or an argument, for imminent collapse is not analysis.
It is a narrative.
And when the overwhelming balance of commentary repeatedly pushes Arab audiences toward the conclusion that Iran has already been defeated, or is days away from surrender, while the United States remains trapped in a costly confrontation and still cannot secure the outcome it demanded, these Arabic-language channels are doing their viewers a profound disservice.
Meanwhile, there has been no shortage of serious American and Western political and military thinkers who have challenged this narrative, including John Mearsheimer, Chas Freeman, Stephen Walt, Alastair Crooke, Robert Pape, Jeffrey Sachs, Yanis Varoufakis, Douglas Macgregor, Larry Wilkerson, Larry Johnson, Ray McGovern, Scott Ritter, Vali Nasr, Trita Parsi, and dozens of others.
Yet you will rarely, if ever, see many of them given comparable space on these channels.
Robert Kagan, the neoconservative intellectual, has himself argued in The Atlantic this year (on May 10 and August 23) that the United States has suffered an extraordinarily serious defeat in its confrontation with Iran, going so far as to characterize it as among the most devastating defeats in American history, not merely since World War II but since the founding of the United States.
That is a remarkable assessment coming from someone who has advocated American military intervention in the Middle East for decades.

Yet viewers may see other foreign commentators on these channels who are neither experts on the region nor particularly qualified to offer serious geopolitical analysis. Some appear primarily to be pro-Trump political operatives brought into Arab studios to repeat the latest vacuous American talking points.
The Arab public deserves better than recycled American talking points dressed up as independent analysis.
It deserves facts, competing interpretations, dissenting voices, and serious strategic scrutiny.
If Iran is defeated, where is the surrender?
If Iran is collapsing, why is Washington still negotiating?
And if the United States has won, why is the Strait of Hormuz still the central problem it cannot solve?
Those are the questions Arabic-language channels should be asking.
