During his early years as king, King Abdullah struggled with Arabic pronunciation.
He had an English accent, which has gotten much better over time but still occasionally comes through.

What happened on the Syrian-Jordanian border on Friday evening, and why did Jordanian media delete news claiming that an attempted armed infiltration from Syria had been thwarted?
Based on information from informed sources:
Syrian border guards received information from the Jordanian side about movements near the border and immediately informed Jordanian border guards that they were heading to the location to investigate.
Upon arrival, Syrian border guards found Jordanian border guards opening heavy fire into Syrian territory, where children were playing football in their families farms!
Syrian border guards immediately contacted the Jordanian side again to stop the shooting, secured the children, and evacuated them to safety. No casualties occurred.
Jordanian border guards had opened fire into Syrian territory where children were playing in their farm, despite advance notification that Syrian border guards were heading there.
Jordanian state news agency Petra and the official Jordanian army website published news claiming that an attempted armed infiltration from Syria had been thwarted, before deleting the news!

Jordanian state TV was broadcasting live footage of Jordanian authorities meeting with representatives of residents of Karak, where the church shooting occurred.
Everything seemed normal until a Karak resident asked the authorities:
โMy brother is between life and death. We learned from our relatives that the perpetrator was released from prison about two to three weeks ago. Despite his history, Why was he released?โ
The live broadcast was immediately cut.

Turns out, it is not just Israel that is worried about some of the content in the new Syrian government school textbooks.
Saudi Arabiaโs state-run outlet Al Arabiya also finds it โconcerningโ that women are depicted wearing hijabs and that the genitalia of historical statues are covered so children will not be exposed to them in Syrian school textbooks, in a country that is 90% Muslim!
