🚀 What is this massive update turning Telegram Bot Development upside down?
At 1:49 AM early this morning, an unexpected message arrived from the official @BotFather. It was the official notification granting early access to the brand-new Telegram Serverless feature being introduced by Telegram! 🇱🇰🔥
Let me break down what is packed inside this new feature, currently rolled out to only a select few developers worldwide:
1️⃣ Official Early Access Invite (1:49 AM):
Telegram officially invited me, highlighting that bot code and databases can now run directly on Telegram infrastructure without requiring any external servers.
2️⃣ BotFather Web App Dashboard:
When navigating to BotFather, you can select any bot from your list and access the newly added 'Serverless [NEW]' setting.
(Note: This setting does not show up in the standard menu buttons; it is currently only visible inside the BotFather Mini App. Screenshots are in the comments.)
3️⃣ Serverless Beta Toggle:
You can toggle the Serverless feature on with a single click. Once enabled, the full cloud environment activates immediately.
4️⃣ CLI Access (@tgcloud/cli):
For developers coding on desktop, you can run npm create @tgcloud/bot [bot_name], log in using the provided Access Token, and deploy code as well as run database migrations with a single command (npx tgcloud push).
5️⃣ Event Handlers List:
You can build dedicated handlers for any event across Telegram (message, callback_query, inline_query, chat_join_request, business_messages, chat_boost, etc.).6️⃣ In-App Editor & Console to Code Directly on Your Phone:
A full-featured code editor is provided to write JavaScript right from your smartphone without needing a PC. Plus, before pushing code live, you can test and debug using dummy data directly in the console below!
7️⃣ Built-in Database (SQLite + ORM):
No separate database servers or credentials required. Once you define the table schema via sdk/db, a persistent database is automatically provisioned.
8️⃣ Mini App Front-end & Endpoints:
You can host Telegram Mini App front-ends directly on Telegram while creating the required API endpoints right from the same place.
The days of looking for hosting providers like VPS, Vercel, or Render and setting up webhooks to build a bot or Mini App seem to be over. This is a game-changing step that takes Telegram Bot Development to a whole new dimension! 🚀
