As part of the event at the Russell Senate Office building, members of Congress were invited to show off their best moves against chess students and members of Missouri’s Saint Louis Chess Club.

St. Louis was named the chess capital of the country by the Senate in 2014.

Among those seen either eyeing the action or strategizing with their king, queen and pawns: Senate Chaplain Barry Black, Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) and Pete Ricketts (R-Neb.) and Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Mo.).

BREAKING❗️: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) moved to force a vote on ousting Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Wednesday, a momentous move that is all but certain to fail amid opposition from Democrats and conservative Republicans.

Greene — who filed her motion to vacate against Johnson more than a month ago — called her resolution to the floor as privileged on Wednesday, forcing GOP leadership to move on the measure within two legislative days.

Republicans are likely to move to table Greene’s resolution, which would kill it. A majority vote would be needed to do so.

Greene is using the same tool used to remove Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) last fall.

The Republican Party of Florida on Wednesday night picked the 18-year-old youngest son of former President Donald Trump as one of the state’s at-large delegates to the Republican National Convention, per a copy of the results viewed by POLITICO.

The state party also selected other Trump children as delegates, including Eric Trump as its delegation chair — meaning he’ll place his father’s name in for the nomination — and Donald Trump Jr. and Tiffany Boulos, formerly Trump, and her husband Michael Boulos as other at-large delegates.

A high-profile New York real estate lawyer, whose law license was once suspended, said he approached the judge presiding over Donald Trump’s civil fraud case to offer unsolicited advice about a law at issue in the case.

Attorney Adam Leitman Bailey made the claim during an interview with NBC New York, saying he spoke to Judge Arthur Engoron three weeks prior to the judge’s February decision to fine the former president $454 million for falsely inflating the value of his assets.

The judge, through a court spokesman, denied impropriety and said he was “wholly uninfluenced” by Mr. Bailey. New York’s judicial oversight body has now launched an investigation into the alleged interaction, according to sources familiar with the matter.
