“They will neither recognize what is right nor forbid what is wrong.”
— Sahih Muslim No. 2940
This hadith describes the condition of the people who remain on earth after every believer has passed away, shortly before the Day of Judgment.
It does not describe the believers. Rather, it speaks about those who have abandoned faith completely.
Their hearts will become so corrupt that they will no longer distinguish truth from falsehood. Good will no longer be valued, and evil will no longer be opposed.
This is why Islam places great importance on learning the truth, practicing it, and encouraging goodness while discouraging wrongdoing with wisdom and sincerity.
May Allah keep our hearts alive with faith and make us among those who recognize the truth, follow it, and call others to it.
